Can you help me and my team? The Victory Ride to Cure Cancer is less than a month away. My legs are still not ready, so I think I might have to convince Mujteba Haidri, Scott Long, Pete Deichler, PMP, & joseph gillikin that we should put in a 50 mile training ride this weekend. That said, I'm ~$300 shy of taking the #2 spot for Top Fundraisers. Our team is currently sitting at #2 already but I'm not sure we can overtake the Biker Chicks. This speaks to the importance of building a bigger team for the 2025 ride since they've got at least 5 more on their team than we do. Since I'm reading Anthony Lee's book, Race for Greatness, I'm reading that he used to put in some strong 60 mile rides on his bike back in the day. Maybe we'll have to recruit him for the 2025 Victory Ride? I'm sure there are others in LinkedIn world who wanna join us too. (Just let me know.) If you are able to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts, I would be grateful. One hundred percent of your gift goes directly to cancer researchers. Every year, I hear stories about how someone affiliated with the Victory Ride has a family member who benefited from the research that the V-Foundation funds. Every dollar helps. You can make a secure donation at the link in the comments section. #VictoryOverCancer #CancerSucks #VictoryRide

On June 23, 2020, we faced an unimaginable loss. Ade Ayodele, a vibrant sports executive, dedicated friend, and cherished member of the Ayodele family, passed away from colon cancer at just 31 years old. Determined to transform our grief into purpose, we channeled our energy into supporting the the V Foundation's Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer Research Fund. In 2020 alone, we raised $100,000 to advance the understand the biological basis of cancer disparities. Through Facebook fundraisers, runs, and rides, our community united to prevent others from enduring similar heartache. These efforts have evolved into our annual Play for Ade golf tournament, celebrating Ade's passion for golf and mentorship. This year's event was especially memorable as my little 2-year-old Ade picked up a club for the first time, swinging in honor of his late uncle. Yet, our mission is far from complete. Too many young lives, like those of Stuart Scott, Chadwick Boseman, and Virgil Abloh, are cut short by cancer, and we don't know why. I am proud to announce that we donated another $5,000 this year, thanks to the unwavering support of our attendees, sponsors, and community. That was the seed, but we aim to double (or triple or quadruple) our impact again this year. Join us in contributing to Ade’s memorial fund with the V Foundation (LINK BELOW), and together, let’s continue the crucial work to end cancer disparities. https://lnkd.in/gsaxzvTK #PlayForAde #VCancerResearch #CancerAwareness #Fundraiser #JoinTheFight #InMemory #GolfForGood #DonateNow

As I prepare to ride 🚴♂️160 miles tomorrow for the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), I wanted to share why this event means so much to me. After my kids lost their mother to cancer and seeing so many other family members and friends impacted, I’ve witnessed firsthand how crucial this cause is. The PMC not only reflects the values of leadership and commitment that I hold dear in business, but it also puts those values into action in the fight against cancer. The true magic of the PMC lies in the vision of its founder, Billy Starr. He didn’t just create a fundraising event—he built a movement grounded in commitment and ownership. From the start, Starr made it clear that the PMC wasn’t just about cycling; it was about taking on a mission to fight cancer. By encouraging every participant to see fundraising as a personal commitment to the cause, he inspired a deep sense of responsibility in everyone involved. This ownership is what makes the PMC so powerful and impactful. This approach has transformed the PMC into more than just an event—it’s a community united by a shared purpose. Raising money isn’t just an obligation; it’s a way to contribute to something bigger than ourselves. That’s why, year after year, the PMC continues to grow, touching more lives and raising nearly $1 billion to fight cancer. The collective commitment that Starr inspired is what makes every participant a vital part of this incredible journey. If this cause resonates with you or if you know someone who has been impacted and might be interested, please share the donation link: https://lnkd.in/eMGY6fAv. And if I’m walking gingerly on Monday, you’ll know why! 😂

Hi again friends and connections and Happy Dry July Eve. Last Tuesday I posted that I was participating in Dry July to raise funds to help people suffering from cancer. I set myself a (apparently too modest) target of $500 (AUD) for the month of July. Well, that target was passed on about 28 June, so I have had to revise my fundraising target – I now think that $1500 is achievable. With almost 2,000 connections between LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, I just need a hit rate of 10% of all of you to donate $5 (you can’t buy a drink for that anywhere), and then I’ll get to the $1,500 with room to spare. If you are donating in Euros, GB Pounds, or US Dollars, I’ll be happy with 3 (euro, GBP, USD). This is also a little bit of an experiment about the social medial algorithms. We know that posts don’t go to all our friends and connections, so improving the reach of this post is really important. A huge thankyou to the people who have already donated and also to those who have commented on and shared posts – you are putting these algorithms to work to help cancer sufferers. One final thing, in preparation for Dry July, I have abstained from alcohol this week, so I have done the hard part – breaking the habit. I’m sleeping better and my clothes are ‘not as firm’. A win/win situation. If you want to get involved just go to this website www.dryjuly.com #cancer #dryjully #healthyhabits
Support John Phelan this Dry July and make a donation.
