Researcher. Designer. Evaluator. Facilitator. Dreamer. Specializing in Inclusive/Accessible/Universal Design for All + User Experience Design
"Since the 90s, I have worked to address the lack of accessible housing and advocate for the development of more. My work runs from affordable housing projects to bespoke high-end private residences such as barrier-free apartments, garden suites for aging-in-place, multi-generational congregate communities, and single homes. I do design, user and stakeholder engagement, project facilitation and management, post-occupancy evaluations, design manuals, and sit on technical and research committees. Why do I do this? Because housing is a basic human need; having housing that works for inhabitants is imperative. Humans have complex relationships with our homes and we cultivate what we need from them technically, functionally, culturally and psychosocially. We know HOW our housing can be accessible. Right now, I am dedicated to identify and address barriers to implementing this information. So that Canada can actually be more accessible." #EveryoneEverywhere #AccessibleHousing #CodeHarmonization #dignity
What are the biggest barriers to accessible housing, and how do community attitudes and policies play a role? Join us tomorrow for a panel discussion on Accessible Housing! Details: Date: Tuesday, September 24, 2024 Time: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. ET Mode: Virtual via Zoom This is a discussion you won't want to miss. Are you ready to be part of the solution? Head of Legal Practice, Finance and Administration. Non Executive Professional Member of The Council of Licensed Conveyancers.
A brilliant AGM with great speakers answering challenging questions on everything data, change, innovation, regulation and compliance. I particularly liked the question - why will it change now, haven’t we heard it all before? The answer - because it has to, with technical advancements, consumer demand and collaboration. It’s not just upfront information, that’s just part of the change, it’s everything but most important a change in mindset from everyone involved estate agents, lawyers, lenders, banking, land registry etc Refreshingly challenging and forward thinking. #changemakers #industryleaders #regulation
And that's a wrap! Thanks to all who attended and contributed to today's AGM. We're finishing up by introducing our Council members to the regulated community. We weren't able to answer all the questions, but we will respond to every question received.

Pop quiz: how can you find your dream job / dream client? TLDR: positive vibe checks and no #twinning. I just went to a CreativeMornings at Wacom and was totally inspired by Britt Howard of Portland Garment Factory. She was spitting ideas like a soda, bubbling frothy and fun energy that was as effective as caffeine and sugar 🦄 . She mentioned how she really wanted to work with companies that were outside her echo chamber, as that's where the needle is going to move on issues close to her heart. And I loved that. Why? Because I think it's SO easy to stay with what's easy. What's comfortable. But true growth comes from being uncomfortable. Trying something new. Expanding your self-imposed boundaries. It's one of the reasons I adore working with multiple agencies* (intros below). Because I get exposed to different personalities, ways of working, industries, and skills. At 45, I'm am 100% still learning and it's why I'm not bored despite being a copywriter going on two decades now! Whether you're looking to work for a company or hire one, whether you're a solo or entrepreneur or working for a corporate behemoth, getting along is foundational. Do they pass this pop quiz: 1. passes your vibe check (comfort) 2. pushes your boundaries (discomfort)? But isn't that contrary? 🤔 How can you get both? Quick answer: don't hire a mirror. You don't want to work in or with an echo chamber. Take the job or hire the company based on how you can GROW. 🌿 So we're not twinning 👬 , we're learning. Pick a person or place that who compliments you. Someone who lifts you up. Whose strengths allow you to launch yourself to the next level. They can and should be better at some things than you. Let others shine. 🌟 It only makes you brighter. 🌟 --- These are the three Portland agencies I work with the most frequently: Murmur Creative - focused in the food 🍲 realm, they are the perfect combination of talented and effective, producing comprehensive branding that impacts. SBD Agency - with a lock on home 🏠 and design, they're creative and kind, crafting gorgeous visuals supported by strong content (ahem - that's me!) all the while being super relationship focused. Upswept Creative - self described online marketing 🤓 nerds, these people keep it real with authentic talk, well planned strategies, and consistent concrete output. They ALL pass the vibe check 🌈 . I *really* enjoy working with EACH of these agencies.
