With all the public events hosted in KL over the weekend, the whole city was literally a standstill due to the traffic it pooled. The irony was that the venues were adjacent or pleasantly walkable from rapid transit stations. Undeniable that the common goto would be private commutes over public, but if you're stuck in an eventual dead-lock bumper to bumper (there's only so many parkings before you have to pay more for one or illegally park, and often the latter), why cant organizers of these events extend rewards to promote the use of public transits? Eg, a QR before the fare gate at the nearest stations to the event that says "Career fare at KLCC? QR now for a free KaoKao below RM20". Of course the QR back-end services would cross-check with your registration or purchase of tickets prior to the event so it wont be abused. Having done work with the Government, theres a saying "ada fulus semua lulus"... The same goes with the common folk, give them $omething and they'll flock to it like an announcement of petrol price hikes and the fuel stations are jam packed before midnight. Incentivise these public transport initiatives with related councils or #MoT and its subsidiaries. You're bringing in scale, cash-in or ride on their platforms for optics. MoTs new app could also offer these services to event organizers instead with some profit-sharing.
