Completing the Work TGIF Today God Is First Volume 2 by Os Hillman 09/17/2024 I have brought You glory on earth by completing the work You gave Me to do (John 17:4). Have you ever had a big project to do and felt great when you’d finished the job and it was a big success? Angie worked on a big project in the 1996 Olympics which involved placing 2000 family members of foreign athletes into Christian homes. It was a massive project, but it was a rewarding experience to see the job completed. The Lord has revealed to us that the number one thing we are to do is love the Lord our God with all our heart and to love our neighbor as ourselves. His desire is for us to know Him and the power of His resurrection. These mandates deal with our relationship with Him. The fruit of this relationship must then result in our glorifying Him by completing the work He has given each of us to do. It will become a by-product of this relationship, not an end in itself. What is the work God has called you to do? Jesus never did anything the Father had not instructed Him to do. He lived in such communion with the Father that He knew when to turn left and when to turn to the right. Is it possible to have such a relationship with our heavenly Father? I think that if it weren't, He would not have given us such an example. "Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know" (Jer. 33:3). What has He called you to do? Perhaps you are called to be the best lawyer in your city or the best advertising executive or the best office worker or assembly line person in your company. Whatever work He has called you to, He will use you as His instrument to accomplish something that He has uniquely prepared you to do. When our life is complete, what a glorious day it will be if we can each say, "I have completed the work You gave me to do." This will have brought great glory to Him.

Rooted in respect for the land and its people. We worked with First Nation-owned Three Fires Group and Tower Power Group LTD to paint transmission towers in the Sarnia and Chatham areas. Painting these towers helps extend the life of our infrastructure, ensuring reliable energy for Ontarians. This partnership is creating opportunities for Indigenous businesses and is a reflection of our commitment to building a brighter future, together. We're committed to developing and maintaining respectful and positive relationships with Indigenous communities. Know more: https://ow.ly/AJQF50Ue2Xp

An advance that should be adopted worldwide.
Exciting news! Our sinking creel rope project is making waves in Scotland, with positive feedback from fishers and a significant impact on whale and dolphin protection. 🐳 Using sinking rope could save an average of 6 humpback whales and 30 minke whales per year. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of when I started the HOPE Crew initiative with the National Trust for Historic Preservation | @savingplaces– a program that, to date, has completed 175 projects and trained more than 802 young people — including veterans now. Its engaged over 3,750 volunteers in historic preservation trades and over $18M in preservation work. 💡HOPE Crew stands for the Hands-On Preservation Experience. The idea behind it was to connect preservation projects with youth corps all around the country. We’d identify trained professionals – craft experts with 10 to 30+ years of experience - to come in and lead the work. The experts specialized in and made their living in very niche areas like window restoration. ⚒️I worked with those professionals to guide the work of Youth Corps – an org that’s in every state that does all types of work: trail clearing, road work, etc. But they’d never really gotten into preservation as a movement before. That’s what HOPE Crew became. A movement to connect skilled tradesman with young people all over the country to (1) do much-needed preservation work and (2) learn some interesting skills for life along the way. We need your help naming our new freight vessel! Our new freight vessel will replace our existing Gry Maritha in 2026 and we’re looking for a name that encapsulates how important this freight ship will be to the Isles of Scilly. The islands bring to mind exquisite natural beauty, history and wildlife, so we asked our employees for names that not only capture these elements of the islands, but also have a meaning behind why they would make a perfect choice. The top three shortlisted names are: - Nor Nor Nor Nor was the name of one of the Steamship Group’s original inter-island vessels, carrying passengers and freight between the main five islands during the Second World War. Nor Nor was targeted by enemy fire just off St Martin’s, with several bullets piercing the wheelhouse. Thankfully nobody was injured. A name synonymous with Scilly’s ancient history, Nornour is a small uninhabited island in the Eastern Isles, joined at low tide to Great Ganilly. We have chosen to go with the spelling Nor Nor, as a nod to our own maritime history on the islands. - Teän Teän was an important part of the Steamship Group’s fleet, serving as an inter-island launch for almost 30 years. Purchased in 1953 to replace an earlier vessel, Gugh, Teän served until the early 1980s. Nestled between Tresco and St Martin’s, the beautiful uninhabited island of Teän is composed of a series of granite tors – the highest of which, Great Hill, rises more than 40m above sea level. You can easily spot Teän from the north side of St Mary’s, as it is distinctively shaped like a wave. - Menawethan Menawethan, one of the 12 uninhabited Eastern Isles, is home to seals and seabirds and a favourite spot for kayakers, divers, and wildlife spotters. A steep sided island, it is known in Cornish as Men an Wedhen, meaning the tree stone. Now it’s down to you to help us pick! You have two weeks to make your choice, as voting ends on Wednesday 24th July. Follow the link to cast your vote: https://lnkd.in/gddS_FMG

Mutual assistance among trained professionals for the collective good of distribution and transmission grid customers is truly wonderful to behold. Every. Single. Time. What if transmission owners (i.e., excluding Consumers Energy, which divested transmission long ago) applied the same principles to make Professional Engineers mutually available to each other (with cost sharing) to do system impact studies when certain TOs get slammed with generator interconnection requests? Some of that sort of labor sharing already occurs through outsourcing and labor market dynamics in a multifaceted (re-)allocation of resources way, but the industry could be more systematic about it. If not that, then what about performance rate-making for TOs regard study completion rates? Financial "carrots" alone could work without any "sticks." I think grid customers (energy suppliers and consumers) would be willing to fund some efficiency gains that improve service reliability and affordability. State regulators could coordinate regionally or through an ISO/RTO or other regional planning body to help reduce generation interconnection delays for the mutual benefits of their ratepayers -- and with commensurate cost sharing. This is part of why it's great that the P.E. standard exists and that engineers take it so seriously. In contrast, I would never expect mutual benefit pools of standardless economists (like me!) to develop.
Michiganders count on us to power their lives - and our crews are used to stepping up in service when the need arises. But our willingness to jump in doesn’t end at our borders. Our friends in Gary, IN are about find out they can count on us, too! Today, 15 of our crews left Kalamazoo to join the restoration efforts in Gary after severe thunderstorms left many without power.
