The #malaria situation in #Kenya has evolved, requiring updates to how the country approaches prevention and control interventions. We hosted a workshop with the Kenya Ministry of Health, Kenya, the National Malaria Control Programme, and other in-country stakeholders in April 2024 to review and discuss existing analytical approaches to estimating malaria intervention effectiveness and developing malaria stratification maps that will be included in the new Kenya Malaria Strategy. During the workshop, we also co-developed a sustainable analytical framework to inform ongoing malaria control and prevention activities across the country.

Not every success happens overnight. Sometimes, it takes sustained focus to achieve big goals, such as eliminating malaria in Cambodia by 2025. USAID/President’s Malaria Initiative projects in Cambodia implemented by URC between 2007 and today – including the ongoing Cambodia Malaria Elimination Project 2 (CMEP2) – have contributed to the elimination of malaria deaths since 2018 and a 97% reduction in malaria cases nationwide, according to statistics from the Cambodia National Malaria Control Program. Thanks to these collaborative efforts, Cambodia is on track end malaria by 2025. For more than 20 years, URC has implemented projects in Cambodia supporting health areas ranging from infectious diseases to family health. These efforts have included support for quality improvement, health systems strengthening, research and evaluation, health communication, and behavior change. Unpacking the Kenya Malaria Behaviour Change Strategy 2022- 2027 to ensure that all communication from Malaria partners is harmonised and aligned with strategic objectives. As partners supporting the National Malaria Control Programme- Kenya in Malaria control, we believe that Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) is crucial in achieving effective #malaria control. SBC aims to change social norms, correct misconceptions, and improve knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to malaria control. Effective communication should not only inform but also motivate individuals and communities to act on the information received. By exploring the reasons behind current behaviours, BCC can identify and address the root causes. #malariacontrol#SBC #HealthForAll #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe Breakthrough ACTION #EndMalariaCouncil #ZMCC

I came across this quote - "Many supply chains are perfectly suited to the needs that the business had 20 years ago." As we accelerate the fight against malaria with vaccines and other initiatives underway, let us think about how our supply chain is meeting the current demand and the new order.
Access to quality, timely, and affordable malaria prevention, detection, and treatment services is a fundamental right. This year's World Malaria Day theme, "Accelerate the fight against malaria for a more equitable world," reminds us of the urgent need for continued investment and sustained political commitment in malaria prevention and control efforts. Let us join efforts and leverage resources and expertise from the WHO campaign against malaria, to drive impactful change. 👉WHO Malaria campaign resources: https://ow.ly/96KI50RnVXq #WorldMalariaDay #endmalaria #malaria

#DidYouKnow that national #malaria scorecards are crucial tools for partners, including End Malaria Councils and Funds in the battle against malaria? Insights from these scorecards guide partners in advocating for and mobilizing resources toward national malaria control programs or specific areas needing intervention. In 2023, gaps identified in Eswatini's #malaria scorecard regarding treatment and indoor residual spraying (IRS) coverage prompted action from End Malaria Fund Eswatini. The fund stepped in by supporting the National Malaria Program with the purchase of antimalarials totaling $21,575 and assisting with vehicle maintenance to improve IRS coverage. These measures significantly increased IRS coverage to 93% and ensured consistent treatment for severe malaria cases. Learn more about Eswatini's malaria scorecard: https://bit.ly/48vyNf3 #endmalaria

The first idea in this message is exactly right - sustained focus to achieve big (lasting) results.

There is progress in the fight against malaria in #Senegal, where the National Malaria Control Program has ambitiously shifted its focus from control to elimination. ❕ 🛑 We recently hosted a prolific session with Dr. Sene Doudou, Coordinator of Malaria Program Senegal #PNLP, and Dr.Fall Dieng Ndiouga, Consultant for HUMAN, at our headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany. They shared incredible updates on the progress made by integrating the #Malaria-LAMP into national guidelines. A startling revelation from our discussions was that 40% of the negative rapid tests controlled by #HumaLoopM returned positive for malaria, highlighting the critical need for accurate testing. 🦟 Additionally, we delved into the crucial role of border control in the region to effectively screen asymptomatic patients and achieve #MalariaElimination. 💪🏾 Together, we're committed to a malaria-free future in Senegal. The 2024 World Health Organization theme for World Malaria Day is "Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world." Even today, malaria continues to impact and endanger the lives of people worldwide, especially those living in vulnerable conditions.
