For a local parent with two children unexpectedly hospitalized with pneumonia just nine days apart, it was the compassionate care of Drew Kee, a #CHKD resource pool nurse, that made all the difference. The parent, so moved by the experience, nominated Drew for a #DAISYAward. “Drew's care was outstanding; she was patient and attentive to both of my kids, addressing their needs with a demeanor that was both calm and compassionate. Drew delivered consistent, considerate care to each of my children, tailoring her approach to their unique reactions to their illnesses and treatments, all while maintaining a reassuring presence. Her attentiveness extended beyond medical care, providing comfort and understanding, acknowledging the stress and worry that accompany a child's stay in the hospital.” Read the full DAISY nomination here: https://lnkd.in/eG-CC2qs. Thank you, Drew, for providing compassionate, individualized care for our patients and families! #HealthHealingHope #Nursing #Pediatrics

Care management services are important in a pediatric medical home to provide ongoing care, especially for children who need to see other specialists or clinical visits. PCC shares information on the different types of care services and how to optimize care management. "Care management services are required when a patient is receiving ongoing care, whether that care is received via a hospital, assisted living facility, or at home. Care management services carry plenty of benefits for both practices and families: when the supervising pediatrician coordinates care between multiple providers or clinical staff, it can reduce avoidable expenses for families, improve engagement with the patient, and reduce care fragmentation. A win for patients and pediatricians!" #Pediatrics #Pediatricians #PediatricPractice

Feel free to download a Word document of my “Epic” well-child visit (WCV) templates (ages 0-21 years) that I uploaded to ResearchGate. The WCV templates are for U.S. pediatric medical providers who use Epic EHR. I decided to openly share my WCV templates because I am willing to bet that a clever person could improve their quality and/or user friendliness. It is challenging to adhere to all the Bright Futures/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) "Recommendations for Preventive Pediatric Health Care". Implementation requires careful planning, previsit (online vs electronic tablet) data gathering, a good team, and 20-30 (sorry, not 15) minute well-visits. 3-in-4 kids start their behavioral health care journey with a visit to a pediatrician. But 2-in-3 pediatricians report challenges finding referrals for these kids. So they do one of two things: 1. Prescribe and treat themselves 2. Give parents a list of between 5-15 providers (who may not have availability or take insurance) On Monday, Fort Health, InStride Health, Equip, and the New Jersey Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics came together to share a simple algorithm for pediatricians. Instead of giving a list, refer directly to providers who: 1. Have guaranteed availability 2. Take insurance 3. Update you on progress 4. Provide evidence-based care 5. Ensure each patient receives the care they need We were asked during the session how our companies are linked. The answer: we're not. But we are aligned on the need for more kids to receive better access to quality care. #pediatrics #mentalhealth #strongertogether

“The way we do it is an entirely value-based population health model. We partner with Medicaid managed care organizations. We take full risk on the total cost of care for these children who qualify into our program, and we are here to manage their entire experience and care journey. We're not replacing anybody that they're working with. Our kids have PCPs. They've got specialists. They've got a ton of support, but we are there to fill the gaps. And our primary aim is to keep kids healthier and happier in their homes and out of the hospital when they don't need to be there.” #complexcare #pediatrics #caregiver #caregiversupport #medicallycomplex #healthcare #medicaid #managedcare

🩺 Providers and patient advocates are seeking $758 million from Congress to support the Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program. The American Medical Association, American Hospital Association, Academic Pediatric Association, and Children’s Hospital Association were among the over two dozen industry groups to pen a May 16 letter to Congressional leaders asking for more CHGME program funding. The groups say the program “is the most important federal investment supporting the pediatric physician workforce and access to care for the nation’s children.” Congress allocated $390 million to the CHGME program in the 2024 fiscal year (FY), the highest amount to date for the program. However, the groups stated that additional funding for FY 2025 fiscal year is necessary to address the “ongoing youth mental health crisis.” 🌟👶 #HealthcareHeroes #PediatricCare #MedicalTraining #SupportOurDoctors #ChildrensHospitals #GMEFunding #FutureDoctors #HealthcareFunding #Pediatrics #MedicalEducation #HealthcareSupport #MedicalCommunity #HospitalSupport

Summer is usually when parents take their kids for their annual check ups! Well visits are the perfect time to discuss any concerns about your child, whether they be physical health concerns, social concerns, academic concerns, mental health concerns or all of the above. We are all living such busy lives throughout the school year that sometimes it's hard for us to stop and breath long enough to schedule that annual visit. Sadly, in the past 2 decades I have been a pediatrician, these visits have gotten shorter and shorter. Parents schedule these appointments months in advance, wait hours in the waiting room and then see the doctor for 5-10 minutes. The is the time that has been alloted for most children and teens when they come in for their annual visits. As a mom and a pediatrician, I can tell you with 100% confidence that 5-10 minutes is not enough. Our children deserve better and so do families. Rushed appointments lead to missed diagnosis, unanswered questions and increased anxiety and confusion since parents have little time to discuss their concerns. Add to this the fact that now kids and teens rarely see the same pediatrician year after year. Continuity of care is important as this creates trust, confidence and gives children, teens and parents a true medical home. This is where DPC Pediatrics comes in. If you have been thinking about or curious about conceirge pediatrics, but you think it is costly or out of reach, I wanted to share with you that the monthly payment is equal to or less than the cost of a one time annual visit and comes with unlimited access to a experience board certified pediatrician that knows you and your family well. You can text, enjoy unlimited virtual visits for an entire month for the cost of a single visit to the pediatrician in a traditional office. If you are in the South Florida area and are looking for a new type of personalized and comprehensive pediatric care, I encourage you to visit my website and schedule a complimentary meet and greet to learn more about how our office works! Don't settle for rushed appointments, instead give this type of personalized care a try this summer! There are no long term contracts, you may cancel at anytime. If you are an employer, this is an affordable and wonderful additional benefit to offer employees who are expecting! It is an incredible gift! All newborn visits are at home and includes direct access to a board certified pediatrician with over 2 decades of experience. #floridapediatrician #pediatrics #DPC #conciergepediatrics
