Being a voice for the trans community on LinkedIn has proven to be more challenging than I ever anticipated. In a year marked by heightened political theater and an unprecedented surge in anti-trans rhetoric, it's disheartening to witness the wave of transphobic bills threatening the rights and dignity of trans individuals. There are days when I contemplate deleting this platform, overwhelmed by the negativity. However, I am reminded now, more than ever, of the critical importance of representation. As we approach an election year, our voices must ring louder to counteract the harmful narratives and policies that seek to marginalize the trans community. I refuse to be silenced. Instead, I am doubling down on my commitment to advocate for trans rights, visibility, and understanding. It's not just about me; it's about the countless trans individuals facing discrimination, and it's about creating a world where they can thrive authentically. In the face of adversity, I call on all allies and supporters to stand with us. We need your voices, your empathy, and your commitment to equality. Together, we can push back against hate and create a more inclusive future for everyone. 🌟🤝 #TransRights #Advocacy #RepresentationMatters #ElectionYearSolidarity

We have to be active allies to support our trans neighbors. We are allowing so many states to legislate bigotry and hate. We are allowing false narratives and propaganda disguised as feminism about women in sports to be shared. We are letting our trans neighbors, fiends, family members, and coworkers feel isolated and alone because we don’t want to be uncomfortable. And like most equity issues, us white women are a huge barrier to moving things forward. Let’s stop this. We must protect trans children and adults from hate, bigotry, violence, and discrimination.

With the esculating violence towards trans people. I was asked how has Social Media and the Media affected the trans debate and safety in the UK? Social Media and Traditional Media have had a multifaceted impact on the trans debate and safety in the UK. On one hand, these platforms have provided spaces for trans voices to be heard, fostering community support and solidarity. They've also facilitated the disemmination of information about trans rights and issues, contributing to a greater awareness and understanding. However, social media has also been a breeding ground for hate speech, harrasment, and misinformation in targeting trans indviduals, which can exacerbate feelings of vulnerability and contribute to real-world safety concerns. Additonally, traditional media portrayal of trans people is often sensationalised or inaccurate, it can perpetuate harmful stereotypes and fuel discrimination and violence. Thus, while these platforms have the potential to empower and protect trans individuals, they also pose significant challenges to their safety and well-being. Highlighting the need for better regulation and support systems to ensure trans rights and dignity are upheld. Further underscoring the importance of responsible reporting, accurate representation and respectful dialogue in shaping public discourse and policy decisions.

📢 This post is about my business views (not about my company and mySelf). From time to time, we need to be reminded about importance of the following concepts: 🎯 EQUALITY - the right of different groups of people to have a similar social position and receive the same treatment: ✔ equality between the sexes, ✔racial equality, ✔the government department responsible for equalities. 🎯EQUITY - the situation in which everyone is treated fairly according to their needs and no group of people is given special treatment: ✔a society based on equity and social justice. 🎯DIVERSITY - the fact of many different types of things or people being included in something; a range of different things or people: ✔Does television adequately reflect the ethnic and cultural diversity of the country? ❗ Do not forget that it is very hard to always live up to these concepts and even harder when you run the successful business! 🧠 It is important that during the way we insist on and work on adaptation of VITAL IDEAS behind concepts of EQUALITY, EQUITY AND DIVERSITY!

Policy can drive widespread behaviour change, but when aligned with culture, the impact can be even greater 📢 On its own, culture can shift perceptions and drive impact. For decades we’ve seen examples of this, from advancing LGBTQIA+ rights to combatting child marriage. 🤔So what happens when you align policies with culture? Our case study paper, ‘The Role of ‘Culture’ in Tobacco Policymaking’, by Robert West (University College London) explores this, diving into the success of the reduction of tobacco consumption in the UK using this combined socio-cultural policymaking strategy. Today on International Day of Older Persons, we revisit an article based on a speech by Morgan Carpenter which discusses the challenges faced by intersex individuals as they age. Despite the inclusion of intersex in LGBTI aging and aged care strategies since 2012, there remains a significant gap in understanding and action. Intersex people often experience health and human rights issues, compounded by deep-seated stigma and medical interventions aimed at conforming their bodies to societal norms. As they age, intersex individuals may face additional challenges, including inadequate healthcare services that fail to recognize their unique needs. The article emphasizes the importance of addressing these issues to ensure that intersex people receive respectful and appropriate care throughout their lives. https://lnkd.in/giujzYXa

As we observe Lesbian Visibility Day, it's crucial to address the stark reality that, globally, 65 jurisdictions criminalize same-sex love, with 41 specifically targeting women. Disturbingly, in 12 countries, such relationships could lead to the death penalty. These laws and the LGBTIQphobia they perpetuate have profound implications for the workplace, affecting diversity, inclusion, and the mental health of employees. Let's use this week to reaffirm our commitment to creating safe, inclusive work environments for everyone. #EndLGBTQPersecution #LesbianVisibilityDay

I wrote a short piece for DIVA on how Labour's commitment to centrist vibes is directly harming trans+ people. It's relevant to much more than politics. Lots of people want to find a "middle ground" when it comes to trans+ rights. Lots of people find standing up for trans+ rights and trans+ communities uncomfortable, even if they know it's the right thing to do. But the "middle ground" between protecting and defending human rights and eroding or eliminating those rights is not "being reasonable". Its an anti human rights position, and it causes real world harm. https://lnkd.in/eAPVb2Z9
