2023 and other numbers 2023 saw a lot of things Inclusion Europe can proudly share, thanks to the dedication, hard work, and generous spirit of many people. Self-advocates spoke at big European events, and 150 participants from 11 countries came together for the Hear our Voices! self-advocacy conference in Tallinn, Estonia. Inclusion Europe's work was mentioned in the media more than 70 times, with a few mentions in France following the success of a complaint about the treatment of people with disabilities in the country. The organization also contributed to many discussions and documents in the European Union and Council of Europe, supported self-advocates to speak and contribute to events, and continued to support the brave work of their friends and colleagues in Ukraine. The new Inclusion indicators were introduced, which include 7 indicators about rights and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in 29 European countries. The goal is for many people to use these indicators to ask their government to do better when it comes to rights and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and families. https://ift.tt/Aeq20ui #news #cto #tech #cfbr

The nuances of community moderation and how good practices can help - with a neurodiversity perspective. What an awesome panel!
ICYMI - The program for All Things in Moderation (May 16-17) is available. If you're interested in community moderation, engagement, or governance models in digital social spaces, this is for you! https://lnkd.in/geieDvSv I'm looking forward to being part of a panel discussing the nuances of moderation with neurodivergent community users. In my experience, one of these nuances, across the intersection of disability and neurodivergent communities, is navigating differences in language and (more importantly) bringing understanding and empathy to moderation with how this reflects different experiences and identities.

NEW PUBLICATION! I'm excited to share this labor of love with you all! "Whenever I see those little rainbow stickers, I know that there is a place you can go”: Visibility and sense of belonging for queer and/or trans community college students I frame this study in sense of belonging and using the mirror effect model while employing a queer phenomenological approach. With 10 cocreators we uncover how QT images (i.e., rainbow flags, role models) foster belonging at community colleges in California. This article becomes one of the few empirical pieces that adds to the conversations around QT students in community colleges! READ, CITE, and APPLY in practice!

🧠 Last week, we celebrated Neurodiversity Celebration Week, and we have something incredible to share with you! 💻 The amazing team behind Neurodiversity Celebration Week has curated a library of workshop recordings that you won't want to miss. From "An Introduction to Neurodiversity" to "Empowering Yourself as a Neurodivergent Woman in the Workplace," these workshops cover a range of insightful topics. 💛 But let's first dive into what neurodiversity truly means. Inclusion, in the context of neurodiversity, envisions a world where neurological differences are not only recognised but respected as much as any other human variation. Did you know that approximately 15-20% of the population has a neurological difference? ☂Here's the thing: because our brains are wired differently, we think, move, process information, and communicate in various ways. That's where neurodiversity shines. It's an umbrella term encompassing alternative thinking styles like Dyslexia, DCD (Dyspraxia), Dyscalculia, Autism, and ADHD. 💭 But beyond labels, neurodiversity celebrates those who think differently.
