In a newsfeed full of negative headlines, I always look forward to my weekly dose of good news from Positive News. Highlights for me this week are: 🔴 Fake news education: Media literacy is set to become part of the school curriculum. This means that Lilly and her school friends will learn to spot fake news and clickbait and challenge what they see online. 🔴 Electric superhighway: The UK's biggest subsea energy project, Eastern Green Link 2, has been given the green light. This is a big step towards our renewable energy goals and will play a massive part in the UK's net zero ambitions. I've shared the full article below to bring you "positive news" to brighten the end of your week. #sustainability #goodnews #education

Preparations for Modi regime 3.0 Preparations for Modi regime 3.0: To fire up PNG adoption, govt may hand out free connections Extract: The government in its preparations for the third term under Prime Minister Modi is considering initiatives to boost the adoption of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) by potentially providing free connections. This move aims to increase the accessibility and affordability of PNG to households, thereby promoting cleaner energy usage. Such measures are intended to align with the government's focus on sustainable development and environmental conservation. The prospect of offering free connections could significantly accelerate the transition towards PNG, reducing reliance on traditional fossil fuels and contributing to a greener future. My Take: Thank You, Nitinbhai Gadkariji: ……21/01/2022 Reflecting on Nitin Gadkari's innovative approach to allow common citizens to invest in infrastructure projects, it resonates with the government's current initiative to promote PNG adoption. Just as Gadkari emphasized involving the public in infrastructure development, the proposal to provide free connections for PNG engages citizens in transitioning to cleaner energy sources, showcasing a forward-thinking strategy to foster sustainable practices. A Case for Zero Personal Income Tax: 11/11/2014 The notion of incentivizing investments through strategic tax policies, as proposed in the blog, correlates with the government's potential move of offering free PNG connections. By eliminating personal income tax and encouraging investments in infrastructure, there is a parallel focus on stimulating economic growth and enhancing public participation in developmental schemes, aligning with the broader vision of fostering progress and inclusivity. What Got Achieved?: ……25/05/2019 The blog's discussion on significant investments in various sectors, including transport and urban infrastructure, mirrors the government's push for PNG adoption to propel sustainable energy practices. The envisioned boost in transport and energy investments aligns with the goal of expanding PNG accessibility, emphasizing the government's dedication to achieving tangible outcomes and addressing key sectors' needs to drive holistic development. Call to Action: To the policymakers and authorities involved in the initiative to provide free PNG connections, I urge a comprehensive communication strategy to raise awareness among citizens about the benefits of transitioning to cleaner energy sources. Empowering individuals with knowledge about the advantages of PNG adoption and the environmental impact of such a shift can foster community support and active participation in this transformative endeavor. Better Planet Schools is an environmental education program designed for children aged 7 to 11. Schools can sign up for a year (three academic terms) and gain access to our interactive website, exclusively designed for participating teachers. Each year, schools choose 3 'modules', with each module representing a term's work on a new environmental topic. These modules contain lesson plans, presentations, and plenty of ideas for taking action as a school to address key environmental issues. Flexibility is key! Use the materials as part of your curriculum or for your eco club activities. Even using some resources to help children take action for the environment makes a difference. And it works! Schools in our pilot project saved 10-15% of their energy usage through behaviour change alone when engaging in pupil-led energy saving! Plus, participating schools get access to free additional content, including mini modules, advice guides, and entry into a termly prize draw when submitting end-of-module reports. Watch our introductory video to learn more about Better Planet Schools! https://lnkd.in/gcEGPNb8 #EnvironmentalEducation #EcoAction #EducationForSustainability
