Love to see this! Research indicates that Youth Sports is on the rise for Pre-Teens and Teens! This is a great sign for local sports instructors, trainers, and clubs. I'm a believer that participating in team sports from a young age gave me many advantages and built tons of useful skills that I use today. So, I'm so happy to see this! #FutureLeaders #Teamwork #perseverance #GoalSetting #Athletics https://lnkd.in/etxhHbib.

Whether you’re looking to get/stay in shape, for a fun social activity, or interested just because... getting into #sports is a valuable experience. Sports can transform your life with positive effects on your physical and mental well-being. And some sports are easier to test out if you’re brand-new to the life of an athlete. Here’s a list of the 5 best sports for #beginners. 5 Best Sports for Beginners #Soccer ⚽ Perhaps one of the most accessible sports on our list, all you really need to play is a ball and net. And for first-time beginners, the net isn’t even required (you can create a makeshift goal with plenty of items). Not only is soccer accessible, it’s fairly easy to understand for beginners. #Basketball 🏀 Take a drive, walk, or bike ride around your local neighborhood. You’ll be surprised how many basketball courts you find in your local park. And those are just the ones outside. From there, all you need to get access to the wonderful sport of basketball is a ball! 🚀 My #1 Tip for Growing Your Youth Sports Program 🚀 This simple strategy helps us bring in 30-40 new players every time we do it! Host Free "Bring a Friend" Clinics Growing a youth sports program isn't just about increasing numbers; it's about enriching the experience for young athletes and building a thriving community. We always say; "If you plant the seeds, and water the ground, the grass will grow"🫛-->🌱-->🌴 Think of the free clinics as planting the seeds, the youth programs as watering the ground, and the travel/showcases/high school/college ball as the grass growing... Why "Bring a Friend" Clinics Work 1️⃣ Amplify Your Reach: Each player brings a friend who might not have heard about your program or even the sport otherwise. 2️⃣ Create a Fun Atmosphere: Kids are more likely to engage and enjoy themselves when they're with friends. We call this the player-coach effect! 3️⃣ Build Community: Parents and players connect, strengthening the support network around your program. Consistently hosting Free "Bring a Friend" Clinics is a simple yet powerful way to grow your youth sports program. By making it all about fun and community, you not only attract new participants but also create an environment where kids and families are excited to return and bring others along. 💭 Have you tried this strategy? I'd love to hear about your experiences or answer any questions you might have. A question for you, this Monday morning, as you reach for your coffee (yet again): Is your work FUN? No, really-- is it? After reading this article by Stephen Borelli, with major contribution from Amanda J. Visek, PhD, CMPC, FAASP, you may see things differently. I coach kids in both Ice Hockey and Lacrosse. I'm also a former philosophy major who was particularly interested in defining a philosophy of sport. Most importantly, I'm a regular, plain old worker-guy who's finding his way through the jungle of his career just like you and millions of other professionals. I had the pleasure of virtually meeting Coach Borelli a number of months ago. I found our exchanges insightful then, but this collaboration was an absolutely fascinating read. Specifically, I couldn't help but find myriad parallels between the intentions of the authors as they relate to kids participating in sport, and the efforts of a conscious person who is inherently interested in what (s)he does for work. Without spoiling everything found in the article, I will note that the collaboration calls out characteristics of FUN in sport such as those "that are actionable, such as putting forward a strong effort, getting better at a sport and working together as a team. Fun drives confidence, the study shows, and it is at the heart of athletic development." -- sound familiar? Workers? Founders? Influencers? Everyone between? On [formerly Twitter], Dr. Visek lists all 11 of her criteria for "What makes sport FUN for athletes." This is an extraordinary analysis of what your child may consider actually important to the process. Certainly it encompasses much of what I want for my players as a coach, and also what I consider important to my own process as an adult, recreational participant in sport. I also believe the characteristics mirror what we all generally crave from our jobs as well. It's finally important to note that you will not find "winning" on Dr. Visek's List. The Twitter link lies below, but I encourage you to read Coach Borelli's article below that. As a bonus, you'll learn what Andre Agassi really thinks about the sport he's synonymous with. https://lnkd.in/ektBfJyH
When sport is not intentionally designed and safeguarded for optimal experiences that are fun, the worsts can happen. Agassi shares his story, and Stephen Borelli does a fantastic job highlighting research evidence and #funmaps for helping sport national governing bodies, sport administrators, sport coaches, and sport parents design for fun that maximizes the bountiful benefits of sport. https://lnkd.in/eTrX-rW3
