The Power of Self-Awareness: Learning from Howard Schultz's Leadership Approach. Here’s a powerful leadership lesson I’ve learned from the former CEO of Starbucks. As an executive coach with Mason & Co., I often reflect on leadership qualities that are often untapped during practice. And Schultz is a prime example of a leader who practiced this. Schultz has openly acknowledged his weaknesses and missteps throughout his career, despite his huge contribution in leading Starbucks into a distinguished global brand in the coffee industry. He initially failed to connect Starbucks' services with the changing needs of customers. But he was self-aware and knew the areas he was lacking. So he pivoted Starbucks' strategy to have more product offerings and adopt a more personalized experience by promoting an inclusive environment for both the employees and customers. Howard reflected on his experiences and understood how this decision can impact the lives of others. As leaders, we often feel lacking - and that's great! You know where to improve and what to change. The worst thing that could happen is to get blinded by overconfidence, not knowing where you lack. When leaders are self-aware: - they adapt quickly - they build stronger teams - they promote sustainable growth Remember, to acknowledge is to improve. Lead and inspire others with this strategy. Are you self-aware? Mason & Co #executivecoaching #mentoring #executiveleaders #leadership #Inspiration #thoughtleadership
