🏢🏛 ANHUI HEFEI TV Center 🏢🏛 BEW The 301-meter high tower is considered the largest tower ever designed by a French architect in China. Following an international competition in 2009, NDA Group - New Design Associates was selected as the finalist for the design of the Anhui Broadcasting and TV Centre. Located at the south end of Swan Lake in the new commercial and administrative heart of Hefei, Anhui’s capital city, the Centre provide signature space for the region’s largest television producer and is the highest observation point of the region. The iconic tower rise above the Anhui skyline, making it the largest tower ever designed by a French architect in China. During the design of the European Library of Information and Culture (BEIC) by Baukuh and Onsite Studio, atmos lab delved deep into the issue of air pollution in Milan to explore the viability of natural ventilation strategies. Despite Milan's status as one of Europe's most polluted cities, our study revealed that major pollutant concentrations consistently remain below recommended thresholds during the season suitable for natural ventilation implementation (from April to September) with significant downward trends in recent years, supporting the safe adoption of natural ventilation. This comprehensive study, including analyses on the practical implementation of natural ventilation and its impact on energy efficiency, was presented last week at the 37th PLEA Conference on Sustainable Architecture and Urban Design in Wrocław. In Saint Wolfgang im Salzkammergut, Gmuden, Austria, a contemporary railway station debuted in 2023. A series of canopies rooves allow for an abundance of natural like to illuminate the interior spaces and reduce the need for lighting throughout the day. The state of the art station, utilizes heat pumps for its heating and cooling systems and solar photovoltaics to power a majority of the station. Minimal material usage and locally sourced timber further reduces the projects carbon footprint, and creates a connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. An inspirational sustainable addition to the world of public transportation, hopefully more projects just like this will take shape in our cities.
