Firstly - A very Happy Friday to you. Secondly... Kindness is the single-most powerful act you can do for another person & it's completely free! My good friend, Nima Abrishamchian, handed this to me after a long-overdue catch-up a couple of weeks back. A breakfast, a catch-up on both professional and personal lives as well as two guys, ex-colleagues (ex. Manager), just enjoying good chat, food and coffee. Simple. I've enjoyed this book from cover-to-cover. It's got some valuable and heartwarming messages throughout, ones which I've taken on board immediately and now bring into my day-to-day. The most valuable of all - The unexpected receiving of this gift. Thanks Nima. One to now reciprocate with others around me. I was just thinking... 🤔 This time of year means different things to different people. We can't help but get caught up in a whirlwind of preparations and activities. For many, it's a time for friends and family to come together. While others are either alone, have no place to go, or are missing friends and family they've lost. For me, even though I have a strong faith, it's a mixed bag. First and foremost, I do so love this season and the sense of hope and joy it brings. Way beyond the material. I will admit, gift giving is one of my favorite things to do because I love seeing people happy. Gifts don't have to be expensive or material. I'm very intentional so each gift is thoughtful and personal. 🎁 Ohhhh, I so love the smiles... And hugs! Can't forget about those special hugs! 🤗 Even the virtual ones! I'm keenly aware that some suffer in silence. You see, my late mother's birthday is December 26th. The 25th and the 26th are two separate days, but for me, it's hard to think about one without thinking about the other. The reminder of her loss makes me sad. Where am I going with this? I can't help but remember my mother's angst when getting a Christmas card with an afterthought for her birthday. It went like this... "Merry Christmas ... and happy birthday too." She understood the meaning of Christmas and never begrudged the day. All she really wanted is what most of us want; to be celebrated independently. A little extra effort (in this case, a separate card) goes a long way toward bringing light to someone's life. There's a lesson here. And I know my mom would agree. Celebrate each person, and each day, on their own merits. Happiness in any given moment truly is grounded in what we think about it.
