If you want to understand the complexities, dynamic forces and challenges our Nation faces with our small molecule generic drug industry's shortages and the broken economic and quality factors underpinning this industry and its "over reliance" on overseas supply chains, this is a MUST read piece in today's Bloomberg, The Big Take. As you read this in-depth investigative article, I'd like you to ask yourself: 1) With all the other commodities or goods (electronics, cars, computers) you use or consume in your life, has the product gotten better or worse over time? 2) How many people have themselves or loved ones, who by no choice of their own been moved from one chronic medicine that "worked" to one that didn't work as well? 3) Did you always just assume that your pharmaceutical products and their ingredients we're regularly tested for quality and that the manufacturing plants that made them were regularly inspected? Once you read this piece, consider yourself "red-pilled" and more aware of such a fragile house of cards we have in our drug supply chain, and what organizations like Kaiser Permanente, the DOD and several other large health systems and pharmacies are doing now to protect you from poor quality medicines. The FDA is NOT the villain here, they have an important role to play. But, they have NOT adapted to the realities of globalization, and the reason why every other healthy industry and market place uses third party and INDEPENDENT testing for quality is to help ensure a transparent, resilient and functioning industry. Let us hope they see that independent testing is complementary to their work, just as the EMA does see this with the OMCLs (Official Medicines Control Labs) in Europe.

the FDA recently approved Abbott’s i-STAT TBI cartridge that can determine if a person has a concussion within 15 minutes. The portable i-STAT Alinity instrument measures two biomarkers, UCH-L1 and GFAP, that can indicate a potential brain injury. The best part is that a concussion can be ruled out with 95.6% accuracy if a patient is evaluated up to 24 hours after an injury. This makes it a game-changer in sports with high-impact collisions, such as hockey and football, as well as in the military. The i-STAT TBI FDA clearance was made possible thanks to the intervention of the U.S. Army. For the army, this is crucial as close to 500,000 service members experienced a TBI between 2000-2023 during training, deployment, or daily activities. https://lnkd.in/gYVHyYGG

Defense Attorneys, Please talk to your experts before moving forward with a plea or discharge in lieu of court-martial. I can't tell you how many times I've been contacted by the defense counsel telling me that a plea or Ch. 6 (military) has been accepted. Then I tell them some of the details that I discovered while performing my review that were not clear in the report. I'm not saying that the report was incorrect. What I am saying is that, based on the lab's protocols, the report may not tell you everything you need to know. This holds true for all fields; DNA, toxicology, digital evidence, SAFE. There are cases where a plea may be the best option but trust the experts that were hired to help. Trust that they will provide you with all of the information that the prosecution has been provided. In Case You Missed It: The US Government Accountability Office released a Snapshot of Government-Wide Contracting for FY23 with "an interactive dashboard." According to the GAO, in FY23, the federal government committed about $759 billion on contracts, an increase of about $33 billion from FY22 after adjusting for inflation. The the dashboard can show users the top five products purchased by a single civilian agency and compare this information to top product purchases from all civilian agencies.
