To address the world’s biggest challenges, international actors must work change how we work, contributing skills and experience in a way that respects the authority and ownership of those closest to the issue. Haydee and Daniel show that by listening to and following the lead of government, civil society, and faith-based institutions in a nation, CRS can contribute to solutions in a spirit of solidarity and respect for #localleadership #partnership #localization #CivilSociety
International NGOs have an important role to play in supporting smaller, local partners to take their rightful place at the table, say Catholic Relief Services’ Daniel Mumuni and Haydee Diaz. #DevexSeries #RootsOfChange in partnership with Catholic Relief Services

🌟 Let's Shine a Light on Youth Homelessness! 🌟 As someone who has experience working in the youth sector, I've witnessed firsthand the significant barriers young people face when trying to secure accommodation. Many of them lack the resources to navigate services independently and rely heavily on support from non-profit organizations (NFPs/NGOs). Consider this: In 2022–23, more than 38,000 young people aged 15–24 presented alone to a homelessness service. This staggering statistic highlights the urgent need for action. This Youth Homelessness Matters Day (YHMD) on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, let's unite to raise awareness and drive meaningful change. #YHMD24 is a national day that sparks conversations and action around child and youth homelessness. It's a day to recognize the resilience of young people and push for sustainable solutions to support them. Join us in making a difference: 📢 Raise Awareness: Spread the word about YHMD and the realities of youth homelessness. 💡 Get Involved: Organize or participate in YHMD activities in your community. Register your event with Yfoundations and access our campaign kit for ideas and resources. ✍️ Sign the Petition: Advocate for a standalone National Child and Youth Homelessness and Housing Plan by signing Yfoundations petition. 💰 Make a Donation: Support NFP/NGO's efforts to end youth homelessness by donating. Please see below for some events that may be held in your local LGA. #YouthHomelessness #homelessness

Western holds a special place in the hearts of many, and this sentiment is passed down through generations. The Mountaineer spirit leaves a lasting impression on those who experience it, and those who are familiar with Gunnison and Western are aware of the strong sense of community that exists here. With the help of our alumni and donors, we are working hard to make Western an even better place. Learn more about how we are elevating Western: https://lnkd.in/gPqTbQXr #ElevateWestern #WCUAlumni

Fund More Local Peacebuilding Efforts Remove barriers and proactively channel resources- financial and material to local peacebuilders working in communities closest to conflict. Why? •Investing in local peacebuilding efforts fosters greater community ownership and participation in peacebuilding processes. How? •Streamline the funding process by reducing bureaucratic and language hurdles, and offer flexible, unrestricted funding for local civil society for the long term. •Encourage and support sustainable grassroots grant making initiatives. These initiatives should be self-sustaining and based on indigenous and local solutions. •Fund local peacebuilders. Allowing for more equitable resource allocation mechanisms that ensure adequate, pressure-free space and time is given to local peacebuilding initiatives. #PEACESTARTSHERE

Moved as always by John Paul Lederach and his tender reflections on the approaches and relationships of (and between) peacebuilders and philanthropists. So much to reflect on and be inspired by in this talk from the recent Social Change Initiative conference on Countering Violent Conflict & Polarisation: How Can Donors Help? Really recommend these 25 minutes of wisdom! https://lnkd.in/eVF64Gv2

With a horrible predictability, it's Challenge Poverty Week. Like many, I've reviewed the latest (2024) Joseph Rowntree Poverty in Scotland report and it makes for a sobering (depressing?) read: the number of people living in very deep poverty has risen to 40% of all of those in poverty. With many #grantmakers across the UK, the #HymansRobertsonFoundation continues to focus our effort and funding to support #charities across the UK that make a positive difference to the lives of #youngpeople and #communities. We've continued to fund the Foundation's Bursary: a direct grant, delivered by our #charitynetwork, to young people who just need a little bit of funding to help them change or lead their lives with #dignity. If you want to hear more about the Foundation (or think you can financially support the Bursary) please head over to https://lnkd.in/eXiqCQbb. Read the JRF report here https://lnkd.in/enBSskpB Finally, thanks to the non profit sector that continue to support children, young people and families living in poverty.
