So honoured to highlight the issues of administration burden with solutions, and co-presenting with Dr. Clare Liddy (co-lead for Pb4P) on Digital Health Canada’s Healthcare Innovation Rounds Webinar Wednesdays! Discussing what physicians mean when they say “administrative burden” and understanding how government can make changes to alleviate that. Highlights of OMA, CMA and OMD surveys/reports and the Ontario Health’s Patients Before Paperwork Initiative (Pb4P). Administration burden and its alleviation is everyone’s problem. If we don’t address this quickly, more and more family medicine offices will close and we will have more and more unattached patients. 1 in 4 Ontarians (4.4 million will be without a family doctor by 2026!) As a clinical psychologist, I learned early on that being a patient is a learned skill, and we need to invest time in supporting patients to be active partners in their care. Being a patient is a tough job, and the investment of clinicians' time is well worth it. I wrote in Medical Economics about how the Patient Activation Measure can help providers across health care meet patients where they are and drive better outcomes. https://lnkd.in/gZWfKQij

Doctors, do you know that taking fast and effective decisions is one of the most crucial skills you should have in your pocket? In the fast-paced environment of healthcare, making decisions quickly and efficiently is essential for patient outcomes. Limiting choices can prevent overwhelm and speed up decision-making by reducing the cognitive load on your brain. Trusting your instincts is also crucial, especially in emergency situations where rapid responses are necessary. However, it’s important to balance gut reactions with thoughtful analysis. Seeing time as a valuable resource reminds us that prolonging decisions can have serious consequences for patient outcomes. Making decisions quickly and effectively can indeed foster self-confidence, as each choice provides a chance to learn and adapt, strengthening our decision-making skills over time. By balancing these approaches, we can become more decisive and effective, ultimately improving the care and health outcomes for our patients. - - - - - - Join Beyond the Scrubs Waitlist It is a community that helps you enjoy life both in and out of your scrubs, where your job is only part of your story. https://lnkd.in/eUrtJRKZ

Connecting Doctors, and Patients to Reduce the culture of dependency on healthcare profession and Combat Infections and Restore Human-Centered Care
Reforms Promised, But Will They Really Make a Difference? The Secretary of State in the UK has promised reforms to address the alarming issue of delayed and wrong diagnoses, and subsequent mistreatment, in urgent care centers, walk-in clinics, primary care physician offices, and Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments in hospitals. This problem has led to devastating complications and even death. However, I remain skeptical about the effectiveness of these reforms in bringing about real change. As someone who has personally experienced the consequences of speaking out against this problem (https://lnkd.in/d_y54CQU), I know firsthand the victimization that whistleblowers face. False claims and complaints are often used to silence those who dare to raise concerns. Despite this, I have taken it upon myself to educate people on self-diagnosis and created an app to empower them to make informed decisions about their health. My goal is to prevent complications and death resulting from medical errors committed in primary care. Unfortunately, the promised reforms https://lnkd.in/dBTChFqp are unlikely to benefit the NHS or the people it serves. The root of the problem lies in the fact that managers, rather than doctors, are in control. Until honest doctors are given the autonomy to make medical decisions without interference from non-medical professionals, the system will continue to fail patients. The current system prioritizes efficiency and cost-cutting over patient care, leading to rushed diagnoses and inadequate treatment. Doctors are often overworked and undervalued, while managers focus on meeting targets and reducing costs. This has created a culture of fear, where doctors are reluctant to speak out against mistakes or challenge the status quo. True reform requires a fundamental shift in the way healthcare is delivered. Doctors must be given the freedom to practice medicine without interference from managers, and patients must be empowered to take an active role in their care. Until then, the promised reforms will only serve as a Band-Aid solution, failing to address the underlying issues that are putting lives at risk. It's time for a radical overhaul of the healthcare system, one that puts patients and doctors at the forefront. Anything less will only perpetuate the cycle of mistakes, cover-ups, and devastating consequences. In my new book "The Art of Self-Diagnosis", I have shared true case senario to explain how medical diagnostic errors result in complication to emphasis the importance of self diagnosis by empowering yourself to make informed decision. Stop believing the lies, seek the truth and know the truth about the NHS in the UK.
