Did you know that we are now only 2000 days out from the 2030 deadline for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? The Arcadis Sustainable Cities report reveals some clear disparities between leading sustainable cities such as #1 Amsterdam and other cities globally.

Excited to see the Arcadis Sustainable Cities Index released for another year; marking 10 years of Arcadis tracking the sustainability performance of 100 global cities. This year the Index measures more metrics and has added a fourth pillar 'Progress' to measure each city against, alongside the pillars of 'Planet', "People' and 'Profit'   While all of the Australian cities fall within the top 40 of the index - Perth (25), Melbourne (32), Sydney (33) and Brisbane (38) - we consistently fall behind under the 'Planet' Pillar. Across all our cities our high energy consumption and reliance on fossil fuels contributed to our relatively poor performance in this pillar, with many European cities surging ahead as they lead the way in Energy Transition. It's time to turbo charge our pathway to energy transition and decarbonisation within our cities!
