The idea that illegal immigrants need a "pathway to citizenship" often overlooks an existing route: legal immigration. The U.S. already provides multiple avenues for individuals to immigrate lawfully, including family sponsorship, employment-based visas, and asylum processes. For those who wish to become American citizens, the legal immigration system is the proper channel. The real issue lies not in the lack of a pathway but in the lack of political will to enforce existing immigration laws. Instead of focusing on creating new pathways, enforcing current laws would address illegal immigration more effectively. However, political debates often sidestep enforcement, driven by varying ideological agendas, which complicates the process. This has resulted in a complex system that allows illegal immigration to persist, while lawful immigrants face lengthy backlogs and bureaucracy. Ultimately, the immigration system itself isn't broken; what's missing is the commitment to uphold and execute the laws already in place. If the system was enforced as intended, it would maintain fairness for those who respect the rules and deter illegal immigration, ensuring that those who enter and remain in the country do so legally.

We’re currently on a dangerous trajectory that leads to losing our reserve currency status. If this occurs the inflation we’ve experienced during Biden Harris will be nothing. When people can’t buy wonder bread for less than $10 a bag, people will give in to social programs more and more. This will create a socialist state at first and eventually communist one to control the discontent. It’s coming and your choice is very important November 5th. This is not just another election. For the #veterans and #military members out there, who has ever used Congress to help with an issue at the state or federal level?   I'm tracking that many veterans have used Congressional casework services to push for answers when it comes to disability benefits and military #specialneeds families have asked for help to ensure their #militarychildren are receiving appropriate #healthcare.   The bureaucracy can be overwhelming as #militaryfamilies are transferred to another call department, paperwork is lost and refilled out, and services are dropped because of a wrong interpretation of policy.   The Administrative Conference of the United States (an entity I didn't know existed) made a key recommendation below: https://lnkd.in/gam3XmHm   "Agencies should not automatically close out incoming casework requests that do not include information or documentation required for the request to be processed. Instead, agency personnel should notify congressional caseworkers that their submissions are incomplete and cooperate with the congressional caseworkers’ efforts to remedy the deficiency."   The bureaucracy to get the required info or action to make citizen's lives better can sometimes be a time-suck. I had the honor of speaking with The American Legion’s Department of Iowa this weekend about legislation that impacts #veterans and #military. The second section of my course is member led. Members bring up the issues on their mind and we chat openly. We talked quite a bit about authorizations for force and the unique challenges Title 32 veterans face. We talked at length about our Afghan allies and what a shame it is they’ve seemingly been forgotten in foreign policy discussions. Iowa also brought up concerns with unchecked spending to Ukraine,* which was interesting, because their comments closely mirrored comments in Connecticut. In each situation, we dug into the resolutions to read the current stance of the organization. Overall, it was refreshing to be back with the people that matter - the volunteers that hold this organization together. I tell every single person I meet that Congress should be terrified to vote against our policies. I guess I never realized Congress wouldn’t be the only people threatened by our voice. *present resolution on #Ukraine urges continued lethal and non-lethal aid. The Blue Star Families Military Family Lifestyle Survey for 2023 was released on March 12, 2024. The survey received over 7,400 responses from Active-Duty, National Guard, and Reserve service members, Veterans, and their families. The top five issues affecting families, according to the survey, are: 1. Military Spouse Employment (49%) 2. Time Away from Family (38%) 3. Military Pay (37%) 4. Housing Concerns (36%) 5. Children's Education (33%) Specifically addressing Quality-of-Life issues families are saying: Access to Housing - “The waitlist for the housing we were eligible for was too long, living in a hotel for six months to a year was a NO GO for us and not worth the convenience of living on post.” — Active- Duty Army Spouse BAH - “The community outside the base has seen a large jump in the price of homes. We placed several offers and were outbid each time. “U.S. Representatives Mike Rogers (R-AL) and Adam Smith (D-WA), Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, along with Don Bacon (R-NE) and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Quality of Life Panel, sent a letter calling on President Biden to support improving the quality of life for service members and military families in his Fiscal Year 2025 Department of Defense Budget request. In the letter, the members wrote, “Our service members represent the best our nation has to offer and are central to our national security. The All-Volunteer Force has been the foundation of America’s national defense for the last five decades. Yet the committee’s quality of life inquiry thus far has revealed an alarming erosion of military quality of life that, if not addressed quickly, will soon place the All-Volunteer Force at risk. For too long the government has been overstepping its bounds, as stated in our constitution and the documents of our founding fathers. This "social experiment" worked so well for so long, and nobodies like me were able to live exceptional lives if we were willing to earn it, with the unfettered freedom and oversight of a government which understood its role...not to choose winners and losers...not to trade away our future generation's wealth with reckless overspending...not to poise us on the brink of nuclear war...
