Ever curious why common health issues, including colds and the flu, are more severe among the elderly people? Our immunity changes over time; as we age, our immune system may not be as robust as it was during adolescence or young adulthood. A significant consequence of weakened immunity in older age is the reduced production of immune cells by our bodies. This leads to a prolonged healing process for physical injuries and a slower response to infections, increasing susceptibility to illnesses. This is why maintaining a healthy lifestyle is more important than ever. A diet rich in essential vitamins and minerals, coupled with regular exercise, will help you enjoy better health for longer.
