There is no excuse in this day and age to allow contact between this killer and your employees. No amount of money saved justifies managers cutting corners. If you have ever seen this illness suffocate someone you may think twice , one good thing today is there will always be a paper trail somewhere that exposes those who have put people at risk or even allowed it to happen , been aware that those they manage have put people at risk. An email , a disgruntled employee / driver with an axe to grind, a text or taped phone conversation , maybe all of the above will put that person who is ultimately responsible ( in the health and safety policy ) in the dock for corporate manslaughter . it will never happen to you , no one goes to work thinking they will have an accident , you will get away with it this once . Will you or will this be the stupid action you allow that takes you down. Don't treat your staff like they dont matter , they do , they have families that your decisions effect. Profit must never come before safety Corporate manslaughter will be the charge for the person ultimately responsible for the health and safety at your company. Its easy for managers below to take that gamble

A terrific explainer Tony Chappel, delivered simply, clearly and in less than 2min. Other govt agencies, and corporates for that matter, should take a leaf from your book when managing complex or contentious issues. It will always be in the media's interest to dial up the scare factor because it generates clicks. Producing and broadcasting your own content like this is a cheap and effective way to ensure people have the full facts. Great job.

I have to think that cases like these will become more likely in future as state governments continue to tax the disposal of asbestos materials. Levy's on asbestos waste are increasingly pushing the price of asbestos removal up and the likelihood of illegal disposal. This short sightedness of governments to gain revenue now, will end up costing more in clean ups of illegal dumping and burden on our Health system down the track.
