The plenary panel of Simon Hepworth, Stephanie Morris, Fabrice Lefebvre & Ananay Aguilar moderated by Paul Van Dun discussed the motivations, the journey and surprises along the way in creating the UK and French frameworks. The plenary session as well as the workshop on benchmarking spinout deal terms created candid discussions on varied practises, express licenses and influencing factors set at both national and institutional levels that ultimately shape the deal. Last week's HTB forum 𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥-𝘵𝘰-𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘭 brought together experts to share insights on preparing technology startups for successful exits. The event was highlighted by a case study providing a roadmap from startup inception to acquisition. I've had a nice little buzz... It has been really lovely this morning to hear about the wonderful things going on, and planned, for entrepreneurial support within the South West of England. It sounds like Innovate UK , and Innovate UK Business Connect in particular, are genuinely progressing quite nicely - including in the Bristol, Bath and South Gloucestershire region. Having been a startup founder myself, and supported other founders, it's really important to have the support network there. Innovate UK and Business Connect have helped me a lot over the years, from business connections, to general advice, and to enabling me to become a mentor for others. It's great to see how they're changing, and to hear about their plans for the region that I now live in. I think that Innovate UK Business Connect in particular could grow and evolve into being incredibly useful for the innovation economy in the UK. I'm particularly excited about how their potential for even better programmes. It was also brilliant to hear, this morning, about the West of England Combined Authority Growth Hub, the British Business Bank South West Investment Fund, UWE Launch Space and Science Creates - all of which sound like they're supporting excellent cutting-edge entrepreneurship and research in Bristol which I'd love to hear more about.
