Lost a deal yesterday 😭 one I gave my all to. And all I can think about and feel today is.. 👉 gratitude Not anger, not resentment, not sadness (OK, maybe a little sadness).. but mostly, just gratitude. • for the opportunity • for my teams support • for my customer (class act) • for the relationship we built • for their trust in me • for all I learned in the process • for getting to do what I love You win some. You lose some. That’s sales. And I love ❤️ it. People think it’s a trip when I say I love sales. And I get it.. sales is a tough gig, it’ll rattle you, beat you up, spit you out and oh, by the way.. get up now and do it all over again. 👆this isn’t the reason however why I love it (I’m a bit nutty, but not that nutty.. come on now). For me.. • it’s the people I get to meet, • the conversations I get to have, • the relationships I get to create, • the opportunities I get to impact people, organizations, industries, • the lessons I get to learn, • the better sales pro, colleague, and human being I get to become 👆all of this, because of sales. It’s during times like these that I’m reminded of my mentor’s wise & empowering words.. “It’s never what happens to you Mike, it’s what you decide to do about it.” He’s so right (always was). Not only is it about what we decide to do about it… it’s also about how we choose to look at the things to happen to us, which I believe.. aren’t happening to us at all, but instead, happening for us.
