“Time Kills Deals” they say. Maybe. Contentious take on this - but saying “time kills deals” is like saying “this person died because their heart stopped beating”. If the deal is taking a long time – it’s probably not a healthy deal. Or worse still, it was never really a live deal to start with. Instead of trying to inject false urgency with time-bound discounts or using scarcity tactics – you need to go back to basic qualification and work out what’s missing. Chances are that the pain isn’t big enough to justify the change and / or the business case doesn’t stack up against other priorities.
