Today is Memorial Day, where we remember and honor our fallen soldiers. Do you know about the long history of Native Americans serving in the military? Take a look at the article "Reflections on Native Americans and Memorial Day" from Native News Online, written by by Levi Rickert: https://rb.gy/5n6a98 "Throughout American history, American Indians and Alaska Natives have proudly served and died for the United States of America. According to the Oxford Companion to American Military History, American Indians and Alaska Natives have the highest record of military service per capita compared to any other racial/ethnic group in the United States. Remarkably, even before American Indians became citizens of the United States in 1924, during World War I (July 28, 1914 – November 11, 1918), some 12,500 American Indians served in the armed forces. They fought for freedom when they weren’t even citizens of this country. Almost two-thirds of American Indians who served did so in the infantry, where they won widespread praise for bravery and achievement. Almost 5% of American Indian combat soldiers lost their lives, compared to 1% of American forces overall." As Memorial Day comes around, it's good to remember what the day is really about. It’s not just the start of summer or a time for big sales. This is a day to honor the brave men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military. Their sacrifices are why we get to enjoy so many freedoms every day. So, how can we keep the spirit of Memorial Day alive in our everyday lives? It can be as simple as taking a quiet moment to think about those who gave their lives, doing something to help someone in need, or just saying thanks to someone who’s served. These little things mean a lot and help us keep their memories alive. Memorial Day also encourages us to be like those we're remembering—selfless and brave. We can do that by helping out in our community, standing up for what's right or making a move for our future that we were afraid to do. By living out these values, we honor their legacy and make a positive difference just like they did. Today, as we commemorate Memorial Day, I find myself reflecting on the extraordinary service and sacrifice of my father, a proud member of the 100th Infantry Battalion in World War II. My father and his comrades bravely fought from the toe of Italy all the way to occupied France. My father’s journey began in Hilo, Hawaii, where he was sent off to war by a community of patriotic Japanese Americans, including his family and friends. Despite facing prejudice and doubt, these courageous individuals stood united in their commitment to defend the freedoms and values of our great nation. In November 2011, my father was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, a testament to the extraordinary valor and dedication of the 100th Infantry Battalion. This honor is a powerful reminder of the profound impact these heroes had on our history and the enduring legacy they left behind. As I reflect on my father's service, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude. His story, and those of his fellow soldiers, teach us invaluable lessons about leadership, resilience, and sacrifice. They remind us that true leadership is not just about wielding authority but about serving others selflessly, standing firm in the face of adversity, and striving for a greater good. This Memorial Day, let us honor and remember all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage and dedication continue to inspire us. As we pay tribute to these heroes, let’s do our best to embody the ideals that they fought for—integrity, unity, and unwavering commitment to justice and freedom. May we never forget the sacrifices made by our brave servicemen and women, and may their legacy continue to shape and inspire future generations. #memorialday #neverforget #100thbattalion #goforbroke #niseisoldier #congressionalgoldmedal #leadership #servantleadership #americanhistory #AsianAmerican #thewaytogrow #leadershipdevelopment #HonorOurHeroes #ServiceAndSacrifice #LegacyOfBravery #Patriotism #NeverForget Glenn Furuya Debbie B. The US Military's mission is to defend and win wars. But recruiting has become increasingly complex, hindering our ability to achieve that goal. It's time for politicians to step aside and let the Military do what it does best- focus on teamwork, commitment to mission, and duty, honor, and country. By recruiting warriors with the highest standards and utilizing retiree/veteran assistance, we can promote sacrifice, heroism, and gallantry. Let's stop treating our Military as a social experiment and instead promote total victory for America. #MilitaryRecruiting #Teamwork #DutyHonorCountry

Anthropy Chairman, the largest leadership gathering focused on the UK's future : Previous EMEA Managing Partner of Omnicom's 100 Agency Group: Serial Philanthropist: See: www's .Anthropy.uk & .johnobrien.world
Today, whilst on my travels, I had the privilege of re-visiting after many years, the Commando Memorial in Lochaber, a poignant tribute to the Army Commandos of WWII and the Royal Marines who have carried on their legacy. Although I am ex Army, I am not commando-trained, but know some Anthropists who are, namely the ex- Royal Marines. They would undoubtedly recognize the formidable motto inscribed: 'United We Conquer.' This visit reminded me of the power of unity in such dire times, both in the past and the need for it today. As a nation, I believe if we come together in the spirit I have always envisioned for Anthropy, we can tackle pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. However, achieving this requires the same determination, bravery, initiative, and purposefulness demonstrated by the commandos. It also now requires this of our new Government, given its minority of votes, regardless of its majority of seats. It also requires those who didn’t vote #Labour to be open to such collective endeavour. If I have one call from seeing this again, it is to channel this Anthropic spirit and collaboration, towards conquering the issues that impact us all. Together, we can make a difference, or as it says, ‘United We Conquer’. #UnitedWeConquer #AnthropySpirit #CommunityResilience Ben Brabyn Lee E Collins MBA PMP FIoL #Anthropy #Anthropist

The Declaration of Independence – which was approved by the Founding Fathers on July 4, 1776 – would have been little more than a footnote in history if that independence could not be defended by a well-organized military force. Only six weeks after the signing of the Declaration, General George Washington and the Continental Army found themselves surrounded in Brooklyn, New York by tens of thousands of British troops and almost 500 British ships. The American Revolution was on the verge of being extinguished. That is when the 400 remaining men of the First Maryland Regiment attacked the massive British force. Most of the Maryland regiment was killed or captured, but they succeeded in diverting British attention long enough for Washington and the rest of the Continental Army to escape almost certain annihilation. Author Chris Formant, in a 2019 article for Time, wrote, “The Maryland 400’s sacrifice at this pivotal moment in American history now shines through the dense fog of history. Like the legendary Spartans of Thermopylae, America’s…most forgotten heroes should serve as a beacon – an illuminating reminder of the selfless devotion of true patriotism.” The 19th century historian Thomas Field called the stand of the Maryland line “an hour more precious to American liberty than any other.” As we remember and celebrate the ink that declared our nation’s independence, let us also remember the sacrifice and blood spilled to make it a reality. #USArmySignalCorps #Signalcorps #USARMY @US_CYBERCOM @ARCYBER @armyfutures @Signal_School @US_CYBERCOM #IndependenceDay

Embracing the Universal Brotherhood of the Military - In the heart of every soldier lies a bond that transcends borders. 🌍💂♂️ In my journey as a soldier, I've come to realize that the camaraderie among soldiers knows no bounds. It's a bond that goes beyond language, culture, and geography. Recently, I had the privilege of interacting with a fellow soldier from a different continent, a testament to the universal brotherhood that defines our profession. During our conversation, I found myself asking the same questions I would ask any fellow soldier: What regiment did you serve in? How rigorous was your physical training? What were the guiding principles that shaped your ethos? And perhaps most importantly, where and how did you face combat situations? Despite hailing from different corners of the world, our experiences echoed a familiar sentiment—the dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our duties as soldiers. It's this shared sense of purpose that unites us, regardless of our backgrounds or affiliations. The beauty of the military fraternity lies in its ability to foster connections that go beyond mere acquaintance. It's about understanding that while our uniforms may vary, our dedication to service remains unwavering. In a world often divided by differences, the brotherhood of the military serves as a powerful reminder of our common humanity. As I reflect on my interactions with soldiers from around the globe, I'm reminded of the words of General Colin Powell: "The ties that bind us are stronger than the occasional stresses that separate us." Let us continue to cherish and celebrate the universal bond that unites soldiers worldwide—a bond built on respect, trust, and shared experiences. #MilitaryBrotherhood #GlobalSoldiers #UnityInService
