Yep. Early on my partner Luis Ramirez and I noticed the bias. /Imagine Tesla drivers, doctors, CEO's: white males. No women or people of color represented. It has gotten better, but still a ways to go in representation. Whether it is how the data is labeled, how groups are historically represented on the internet, and, possibly, the implicit bias of the coders are all factors that contribute to bad results. There may also be the lack of co-occurring keywords like “women and doctors.” Glad Dove is bringing awareness.
