What do directors need to know in order to set the direction of the company? What are the proper boundaries within which the company should operate? How best can directors exercise their responsibilities to get things done in the boardroom?

Inspired by Gianpiero Petriglieri’s opening keynote at the AACSB Deans Conference: The notion that "𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 - it's real if you show it, it's good when you care" resonates deeply. 🌍 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙑𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙨? 🤩 Last week, I had the privilege of diving into this intriguing metaphor during my keynote at The European Marketing Academy (EMAC) conference. It was a great 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝. 🎯 In the world of business education, we often see a gap between academic rigor and practical application. But what if I told you that 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙜𝙖𝙥 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩? ✨ During the keynote, I explored potential 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧, in a lively and very rich conversation with a wonderful audience from great researchers from all over the world. 👩🏫👨💼 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙖 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧, 𝙬𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙛 𝙬𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧!
