Today, I'm thrilled to share some exciting client work I've been keeping under wraps — introducing OL&LA (the Online Language and Literacy Academy)!
🌟 The first cohorts begin March 11th 🌟
Having worked in edtech for eight years, I know the major players in K-12 literacy professional learning for educators. Many of these traditional professional learning programs often fall short when it comes to addressing the needs of students from diverse language backgrounds, such as Multilingual Learners, English variety speakers, and those with dyslexia. OL&LA is here to change that by blending evidence-based research in second-language acquisition and literacy development to help educators improve their knowledge and skills so that every student is honored throughout their learning journey.
I am not exaggerating when I say there is no other professional learning in Structured Literacy tailored for language-diverse classrooms quite like this. OL&LA uniquely recognizes that educators' time is precious and leverages AI-driven classroom simulations to connect theory to real-life practice. Who else does that?
This opportunity was nothing short of a professional dream come true. For five years, I had the privilege of working with Maya Valencia Goodall, M.Ed, M.A. and Kristie Shelley, M. Ed. at Lexia, where they completely shifted my perspective on equitable literacy instruction. It's one thing to talk about equity; it's quite another to implement real-life instructional practices that truly deliver. Every webinar, every white paper we collaborated on tickled my brain. Seriously, I learned something new in every single interaction, and I couldn't get enough.
Their departure from Lexia, just months before my own layoff, was both shocking...and not at the same time.
But as luck would have it, when Maya and Kristie heard about my unexpected situation, they reached out with an offer I couldn't refuse — the chance to bring my skills and experience to Miami... I mean CORE Learning...through Content Uncomplicated. It's been an honor to be part of this launch, and I’m incredibly proud that the frameworks and tools I've developed through Content Uncomplicated have helped contribute to the success.
If you're interested in learning more about empowering teachers with Structured Literacy for language-diverse classrooms, make sure to check out CORE Learning's Structured Literacy and Language Diversity Week over at edWeb.net! This is a three-part learning series where we're shattering the myth that the science of reading only benefits a certain group of students with sessions dedicated to showing you how every student can thrive with the right evidence-based approach. https://lnkd.in/e5CNhWi9

Say hello to OL&LA! 👋
You’re the first to hear about the official launch of the only Structured Literacy professional learning for teachers that aligns with the needs of language-diverse classrooms. OL&LA officially launches on March 11th!
Why is OL&LA important for you to know about?
Our educational system is not currently set up to support the needs of all students as they learn how to read. OL&LA is about to change that.
