BOLDEROCEROS, animatic. Remember your old school textbooks? The ones where some clever artist drew in the margins and animated their artwork. Page by page by page. OK, you follow? So, think back to FASA 365 Day 8. This is the 'animatic' of the Bolderoceros, to run through the pages and margins of the upcoming Samsut Sourcebook. As 1879's Art Director, I've been drawing up and setting these 'animatics' in the layouts of the past few 1879 publications for FASA. This is the first animatic utilizing the 365 Creature Concept Challenge I been workin on. I think it's a unique layout visual. That is, I haven't seen anybody else doin it.

A page from Maze Runner graphic novel that was a follow up to the movies, by Boom Studios, 2015/16. As usual, Andrea Mutti did an amazing job with art, this time with the usage of his dry, slightly rougher brushwork and thinner lines magic across the page which fit really nice within the genre of the story. I on the other hand tried to emulate the effect of 80s panavision style movie aesthetics on the page with the usage of noise filter from photoshop, but in such a way that didn't made noise visible on the first glimpse. In order to achieve that effect I used a smaller number setting, and put noise on a white layer that I set up on multiply, and set transparency about 70 %. That gave me a slightly darker page overall, which I compesanted with brightening effect on another layer. I could have used noise directly on colors layer, but this separation gave a tiny nuanced depth to color and overall page aesthetics (at least in my mind).
