Here are your answers: Located in Tustin and currently owned by the Navy, The Tustin Hangars were structures built in 1942 and used initially to house manned blimps and then later as a helicopter facility. It was the Marine Corps Aviation’s principal helicopter facility in the Pacific region. The American Society of Civil Engineers named the hangars one of the “Historic Civil Engineering Landmarks” of the 20th Century. The Tustin Hangars are two of the largest wooden structures ever built and contain the largest covered, unobstructed open space of any structure worldwide. It will be interesting to see what becomes of these, as they will ultimately be sold and developed at some point. #TriviaThursday: What's the name of the semi-circle-shaped structure found at Marquis Station? ANSWER: This steel building is called a Quonset Hut - named after the Davisville Naval Construction Batallion Center at Quonset Point, where the structure's design was originally invented. Now, this durable and distinct design can be found in a variety of residential and commercial structures - like Marquis Station!

Few facts to appreciate the title of news and article need to be mentioned. The bungalow of 12 mts height was constructed in 1938 or 1940 in Worli. In 1991-1992, INS Trata Naval establishment was set-up. It was vicinity of the old bungalow. In 2019, the building permission to reconstruct or recreate the said bungalow of the "same height" was proposed. However, NOC by Navy was refused. The Circulars of Ministry of Defence requiring NOC were held as ultra vires of the Works of Defence Act, 1903. DCPR 2034 applicable to the present case do not contain any provision for NOC of Defence Establishment. Moreover, it was observed that Section 46 of the MRTP Act permits BMC to consider such relevant additional material or fact for granting or refusing building permission.  However, relevant factors including security may be considered by the BMC while processing the permission application.

Appreciated the opportunity to chat with Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Radio's Sarah Maunder about yesterday's recent milestone for the Royal Australian Navy's Hunter class frigate. https://lnkd.in/gSx7b98J An important milestone and great to see - but we must learn lessons from the journey to getting here. The 2009 White Paper identified the need to replace the ANZAC class frigate. The decision to select the Hunter class frigate was made in 2018. In 2024 we are now at the point of commencing construction, with the first vessel not expected to be operational until 2034. 25 years from the need being identified to the first vessel operational. Whilst shipbuilding is about long terms plans, this timeframe, delays in decision-making and embryonic designs has resulted in the RAN having it's smallest and oldest surface combatant fleet since at least the early 1950s, arguably longer. With the removal of strategic warning time - Australia must respond and learn to do things differently. This culmination of issues has left Australia's maritime domain and maritime trade exposed during a period of historically heightened tensions.
