🌟Myth: Donating to Homelessness Charities Doesn’t Make a Difference 🌟Reality: Every contribution counts. Your support helps us provide vital identification documents that open doors to housing, employment, and a fresh start for those in need. Without these essential IDs, many individuals remain stuck in a cycle of homelessness, unable to access the services that can change their lives. In fact, just $12 gets a state ID in the hands of someone looking to end their homelessness! At Homeless ID Project, we see the impact of every donation firsthand. Each dollar goes toward helping someone take that critical first step toward stability and independence. Want to make a difference? Your donation can help us continue this life-changing work. FREE DONATION DEADLINE REMINDER!!!! DECEMBER 1st!!! 26 years. That’s how long #ProjectWinterSurvival has been working to provide life-saving kits to those experiencing homelessness in Toronto and within 2 hours of the GTA. Honestly, I didn't think I'd still be posting like this when I founded the charity Engage and Change in 1999. But the harsh reality is: the temperatures are dropping, shelters are overburdened, and the need for support has never been greater. If you’re a charity, non-profit, agency, shelter, or drop-in program helping the homeless community, this is your chance to make sure you’re prepared for what lies ahead. Have you registered for donations for your organization??? Sunday December 1st is the deadline for agencies helping the homeless to apply for January 18, 2025 Project Winter Survival Kits—lifesaving resources for those braving the cold without shelter. APPLY HERE: https://lnkd.in/gGUmde4Y These kits are more than just supplies—they’re a lifeline. They include essential items like warm gloves, hats, sleeping bags, and hygiene products to help those on the streets survive the bitter cold. If you know an organization serving those in need, please tag them in the comments to spread the word. Let’s ensure no one who needs these kits is left out in the cold this winter. We can’t solve homelessness overnight, but together, we can ensure more people stay warm and safe. Thanksgiving is almost upon us! But while most people are aware of or recognize Thanksgiving, many people aren’t as aware of #GivingTuesday, which falls on the Tuesday just after Thanksgiving. Taking place on December 3rd this year, #GivingTuesday is a global movement that spreads awareness of ways to donate and support the mission and services of different organizations and nonprofits that serve their communities. If this interests you, then consider donating to Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI)! BCRI is a 24/7/365 crisis services organization that provides treatment and support to Marylanders impacted by mental health, substance use, or homelessness challenges. If you are interested in giving to BCRI’s cause for #GivingTuesday, visit our website at https://lnkd.in/e_YJwny5. Every bit goes right to their programs that help individuals every day, and any amount – no matter how big or small – goes towards making a difference! #bcri #GivingTuesday #community #charity #donate

How to help those experiencing homelessness? 1) Don’t judge. You don’t know where they have been and what they have seen and been through. 2) Don’t just walk past those on the street. Talk to them, or smile and wave or shake their hand. Let them know you see them. 3) Ask THEM what they need. Endless charities will tell you they need x y and z. Each person on the street is different. They might need something I or you or that charity hadn’t thought of. 4) See if you can volunteer for your local homelessness charity during the winter period (and beyond - the beyond is far more important than just at Christmas time) 5) If you want to, buy something for them. During Christmas I got a team to wrap up gifts like gloves and socks as Christmas presents and we went around giving them gifts. However you want to do it - do something if you feel compelled to do so. Message me if you want to know some ideas of charities you might be able to help with. Please just remember - they are humans with problems just like ours. They need our support - all year round. Most of these things above don’t have to be done during Christmas; they can be done anytime. Help each other. #homelessness #helpingthoseonthestreets #streethomelessness #howtohelp

You Decide What Next At The Freedom Hub, our vision is clear and unwavering: to end slavery in Australia and empower survivors to rebuild their lives with dignity and independence. We are excited to share our next ambitious goals with you. We aim to establish a full Survivor School in Brisbane, complete with our own dedicated building, and to expand our services in Western Sydney. Achieving these goals will significantly enhance our capacity to support and uplift survivors of modern slavery. By donating now, you have the power to make a tangible difference. We are self funded with no government support so your contribution will: 1. Empower Survivors: Your support will provide survivors with access to essential academic and vocational training, life skills, and job readiness programs. This holistic approach ensures they can confidently reintegrate into society and lead independent, successful lives. 2. Expand Our Reach: Establishing a Survivor School in Brisbane and enhancing our services in Western Sydney means more survivors will receive the support they need. With dedicated facilities, we can offer a safe, nurturing environment where survivors can heal and grow. 3. Foster Community Engagement: Your donation will help us create stronger community ties and partnerships. By working closely with local businesses and organizations, we can offer more employment pathways and support networks for survivors. 4. Drive Social Change: Supporting our mission not only helps individual survivors but also contributes to the broader fight against modern slavery. Your donation aids in raising awareness, advocating for policy changes, and building a society where slavery has no place. Every dollar you donate before the end of the financial year not only supports these critical initiatives but also offers you a tax deduction. Your generosity now decides what happens next in our mission to end slavery in Australia and support survivors. Will you join us in making this vision a reality? Donate today and be a part of the change. Thank you for your unwavering support. buff.ly/3z2W7Vk #EOFY #philanthropy #taxdeduction #charity #bethechange #donate

HELP HOMELESS STREET ANGELS GET BACK ON THE ROAD 🙏 For years, the Homeless Street Angels have been a lifeline for those experiencing homelessness, providing food, clothing, and support on the streets. Their ford transit van was not just a vehicle—it was hope on wheels, bringing comfort to those in desperate need. ❤️ But now, that hope is parked indefinitely. The van is out of commission, and the streets are colder without the Angels’ vital support. 💔 We Need Your Help 💔 If we can come together as a LinkedIn community, we can get the Angels back on the road where they belong. Whether it’s a donation, a connection to someone who can provide a van, or even spreading this message to your networks—every action matters. 🙏 Let’s show that the power of LinkedIn extends far beyond business, and into the heart of our communities. If you or your company has a ford transit van, or if you know of anyone who can help, please get in touch. Together, we can keep hope alive for those who need it most. #HomelessStreetAngels #CommunitySupport #LinkedInForGood #DonateNow #MakeADifference Shelley Joyce Becky Joyce

For the sixth consecutive year I am fundraising for Hutt St Centre's Walk a Mile in my Boots campaign. August is one of my favourite times of year, not just because I get to wear my favourite colour every day of #NationalHomelessnessWeek, but also because I am able to use my skills in #socialmediacontentcreation and #storytelling to give back to my community. There is a lot to be said about the benefits of #volunteering and #fundraising, not just for how it impacts the people who rely on the cause you’re supporting, but also for personal wellbeing. 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀: 1. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴: Connecting with my community online and in person, having conversations and meeting people with aligned values helps me feel like I belong to something bigger than myself. 2. 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: Actively supporting a cause that is important to me reminds me that I have the power to shape the world I want to live in. 3. 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: Watching the total miles and donations gradually build over the week helps to sustain gratification and motivate progress towards my goals. 4. 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲: Supporting my community brings so much meaning into my life and allows me to live in line with my values. Participating in Walk a Mile in my Boots also fosters my wellbeing by encouraging me to move my body, spend more time in nature and practice gratitude and reflection. When I'm giving back I feel more motivated, hopeful and generally have an elevated mood. 🧡 Hutt St Centre provides essential services for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness in South Australia. If we’ve learned anything the past few years, it’s that our circumstances can change in the blink of an eye, and we rely on the communities around us for support through hard times. This week I am walking a mile every day, and adding a mile to this target for every $100 I raise. If you would like to support my fundraiser you can donate to my page here: https://lnkd.in/g8sHMkHf #walkamile #psychologicalneeds
