🚨 Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts 🚨 We are all deeply concerned for our neighbors impacted by Hurricane Helene. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety has established an official Hurricane Helene web page with detailed information on relief efforts. How can you help? 💰 Monetary donations are currently the most needed. Please consider giving to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund or a reputable, certified charity such as the American Red Cross to help communities recover. 📦 As of now, please refrain acting independently sending physical donations or volunteering in western NC. Rather, if you or someone you know wants to help, work with an accredited organization that is coordinating with officials for safe and effective support. Other ways to donate or volunteer: 🔹 VolunteerNC – Disaster Volunteer Opportunities 🔹 Feeding Assistance 🔹 Donate to a VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) CLICK link below for details. https://lnkd.in/ei_3CfiP Let’s come together to help rebuild and recover! 🙏 #HurricaneHelene #NCRelief #DisasterRecovery #VolunteerNC

Hurricane Helene is one of the deadliest storms to ever hit the United States, leaving behind hundreds of miles of catastrophic damage and changing lives forever. The American Red Cross has launched a massive response to ensure no one faces this challenging time alone. Across the Southeast, hundreds of people are still missing, and damaged roads and bridges have cut off entire communities, making it difficult to get help to those areas. People need water, food, medicine and medical care. Tens of thousands of homes have been affected and some 1.3 million customers — about 4 million people — are still without power. People affected by Hurricane Helene need urgent help now. You can help by making a financial donation by visiting redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or texting the word HELENE to 90999. Financial donations for Hurricane Helene enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from this disaster.

From charity scams to FEMA scams — continue to be alert in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. For charity scams targeting well-intended donors, always use trusted sources to vet whichever organization is asking for money. Charity Navigator, CharityWatch, GuideStar and Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance are some great examples. For those directly impacted by Hurricane Helene and other natural disasters, be cautious of imposters and anyone asking for money upfront during recovery efforts. "Anyone asking you for your money or personal information right away is a scammer. Don’t give them money. Ask for identification and verify who you are dealing with." Scammers prey on fear, urgency and desperation. Stay vigilant and spread the word. 📢 #HurricaneHelene #NonprofitSpotlight #SpotTheScam
