If you are still working at age 65 and have health insurance coverage through your employer or a spouse’s employer, you may not need to sign up for Medicare Part B right away. If your employer has 20 or more employees, you can delay enrolling in Medicare Part B without penalty as long as you have "credible coverage" through your employer. If your employer has fewer than 20 employees, Medicare is considered primary and you will need to enroll in Part B during your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) to avoid penalties.
