Food & Drinks Branding Expert | Film Director | Founder & Global Creative Director @ Chuck Studios |
The most successful stories in marketing come from brands that shake up a category. That is sexy. Not easy in food because people are creatures of habits. Especially about their foods. On the other hand, the soda category can use little shaking up. Soda is perceived as being full of sugars and other baddies. Lawmakers are sharpening their blades. And then....there is innovation. poppi is not the first soda brand to break in to fibers and prebiotics (that would be competitor OLIPOP PBC - I guess?), they sure are the Superbowl-est. 'We're the soda your kids and grandkids will think about when they think of soda.' It would be tempting and obvious for the brand to position themselves against Big Soda. But positioning yourself as the successor of it is very, very smart. And it's true - the brand would have never existed if it wasn't for classic soda's. Sometimes all you need is a successful enemy. Curious about how many bottles come from a cask of whisky? 🥃✨ The number of bottles varies based on cask size, bottle size, and bottling strength (adding water increases volume). It's also worth noting that the number of bottles can fluctuate depending on the age of the whisky and the angel's share (the amount lost to evaporation over time). Here’s a quick breakdown for standard 750 ml bottles: 🛢️ Barrel (200 Litres): 285 bottles 🛢️ Barrique (225 Litres): 321 bottles 🛢️ Hogshead (250 Litres): 357 bottles 🛢️ Butt (500 Litres): 714 bottles

As I've highlighted on here, the average Scot knows bugger-all about Scotch Whisky. The person in the street usually has no idea what's in it, or the difference between a Blended, a Single Malt, a Single Grain, a Blended Malt etc. etc. etc. It's usually cloaked in secrecy and it's the very opposite of 'transparent', anyway! If they were to go and tour the VAST Maturation Sheds in the Highlands, at Invergordon (you can't, they're closed to Visitors) they'd be amazed at the MILLIONS of Sleeping Casks of Scotch Whisky, in just this one single place. There are dozens of similarly vast, secret places, all over Scotland. You can visit Scotland's Biggest Nuclear Power Station, you CAN'T visit Scotland's biggest Whisky Maturation Facility though. That's because, we're not told where it is! To make bog-standard Blended Whisky, you need Grain Whisky, because its made using a faster/cheaper Distilling process, invented by a Scot but Patented by an Irish Geezer, who might have been French... It's complicated. The majority of the contents of a bottle of cheap Supermarket Whisky is Grain Whisky. However, as Scotch HAS to be matured in Oak Casks, some Single Grain is kept and isn't just used to pad-out cheap Supermarket Scotch. Some of it is amazing and incredibly good value. I've had Single Grain Scotch the same age as me and because some of it has been matured in really good Casks, it's really good and a lot cheaper than a 50-year-old Single Malt, Which now costs the same as a Range Rover Car. #ScotchWhiskyTruths

This is an unusual Bottle for a few reasons; a bit of a rarity that not too many really know the details on. It doesn't help that the label gives so little information....I truly think, that lack of information holds buyers back, and keeps the price down, unaware of the liquid treasure inside. My understanding is that it was gifted to staff only (open to being corrected on that) to celebrate 50 years of Invergordon Distillery, from 1961 to 2011. This bottle is classified as 'The Invergordon 50th Anniversary Commerative Bottling' The bottle contains 50 year old liquid from the very first cask filled on 22nd July 1961, along with 1973 Vintage liquid (so 37, 38 years old) and other (non specified) aged Invergordon Single Grains, hence no age statement. A bit of a dream dram 🏴🥃 #whiskylover #whiskylife #whiskydream #oldgrainwhisky #Invergordongrain
