“The Oman Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MOHUP) hosted a pivotal workshop in preparation for the Oman Real Estate Exhibition and Conference (OREX 2025), set to take place at OCEC from May 19-21, 2025. Key stakeholders, including the organizing committee from CONNECT, Oman Real Estate Association (ORA), and MOHUP, gathered to discuss the preliminary conference themes and topics, setting the framework and direction for the exhibition. The workshop emphasized the importance of engaging all direct and indirect industry stakeholders from both government and non-government sectors. The goal? To showcase Oman's attractiveness and incentives for local and international investors in the residential and commercial real estate sectors. OREX 2025 which is held in co-location with Oman Design and Build Week comes at a time when Oman is experiencing an unprecedented era of development, with multi-billion-dollar projects offering incredible investment opportunities and enhancing the urban landscape of the country. Herts & Beds CE Club: What Does Sustainability Mean to You? What a fantastic event hosted by VolkerWessels UK in their impressive #Hoddesdon facilities! Richard Tavener, Marion Clapp, Jack Dudley and James Nightingale from RDT Architects, along with Chris Mitchell from Boast Architects, attended the latest Herts & Beds Constructing Excellence Club gathering to dive into VolkerWessels’ “People-Planet-Purpose” framework, presented by Adrian Shah-Cundy. Their commitment to making 2020-2030 their ‘Decade of Action’ is inspiring! We were also treated to valuable insights from Nick Reilly and Rondi Allan of Sustainable X, who discussed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and revealed that ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’ emerged as the top priority in the member survey. The event continued the discussions for us at RDT on how to better align our sustainability and ESG goals with those of our clients and the community:- Economic Responsibility: We aim to minimise material waste in projects or initiatives to incorporate recycled or sustainable materials, reducing environmental impact and operational costs. Social Responsibility: Through RDT’s designs we try to cater for diverse needs, including accessibility for people with disabilities and features that foster inclusive environments. Governance Integrity: Adhering to ethical standards in design and management not only strengthens our credibility but also positions us as leaders in our industry. Congratulations PAE, it was so cool to tour this building with the brilliant engineer Karina Bonin, PE, WELL AP. One thing i found so encouraging was how many of the tenants of designing a #livingbuilding, align with best practices for building a #neuroinclusive work environment. Here are a few of the highlights that i noted: - Passive/radiant heating & cooling that reduces need for heavy airflow systems within the building (commercial HVAC systems are a significant contributor to sensory overwhelm in office spaces.) - Maximizing natural lighting and avoiding fluorescent light in the facility. - Sound baffling technology in all the open spaces to minimize harsh acoustics. - Multiple climates (temperature) intentionally designed in different working areas to allow individuals the choice to work in a climate that best suits them. Another interesting fact, many of these tenants are also used in trauma informed design. Its amazing and perhaps not unexpected that no matter what lens you are looking through, building wellness into a physical environment has shared themes and practices that help to benefit everyone!

As Bahrain continues to evolve into a global hub for business and lifestyle, projects like ERA View demonstrate the potential of modern architecture to enhance community living. It’s more than just a building; it’s a statement of what the future of urban living in Bahrain can look like.
