This is what Mind say about outdoor activities and wellbeing How can nature benefit my mental health? Spending time in green space or bringing nature into your everyday life can benefit both your mental and physical wellbeing. For example, doing things like growing food or flowers, exercising outdoors or being around animals can have lots of positive effects. It can: improve your mood reduce feelings of stress or anger help you take time out and feel more relaxed improve your physical health improve your confidence and self-esteem help you be more active help you meet and get to know new people connect you to your local community reduce loneliness help you feel more connected to nature provide peer support. Unfortunately construction workers have higher than average poor mental health which is why we wanted to try and make a small difference. Because of this Blackdog Outdoors and the CITB have joined forces to provide a hike specifically aimed at our construction colleagues. If you think this hike could benefit you, a colleague or even a family member please feel free to register - the event is free to attend
Championing People and Skills Development in Construction | Engagement Director England at CITB | Top 100 Women in Construction Awards | Charity Trustee
Looking for an adventure that’s good for your mind and soul? Why not join us for the next big construction hike which is a wellbeing walk led by qualified Mountain Leaders. This isn’t just another walk in the park. It’s a journey through history and nature, perfect for meeting likeminded people in a safe environment. Our walk kicks off in the picturesque Derbyshire village of Castleton. With a bit of luck, you might catch a glimpse of Henry II’s Peveril Castle. Yes, the one featured in “The Princess Bride” and “House of the Dragon”. Further along, we’ll reach the southern flank of Mam Tor, also known as the Shivering Mountain. This area was once home to Bronze Age and Iron Age forts. Continuing from Mam Tor, we’ll trek 'The Great Ridge' to our final hill of the day Lose Hill. After that, we’ll descend back to Castleton. Why should you join us? Well alongside our friends Ian Holden, Andrew Higson IEng MICE ChPP MAPM MiCorr and Blackdog Outdoors, our aim is to promote outdoor recreation as a means of improving mental health and wellbeing and as a fantastic way to bring our industry together. Want to join us? https://lnkd.in/eqJj6Tm2 See you on the trail!

We live amongst constant messages trying to convince us that newer (& younger) is always better. While there are times this is true, the value of vintage items is drastically overlooked and underappreciated. It’s impossible to turn on the TV, listen to the radio, or even scroll on social media without seeing advertisements for new cars. This has led to cars being one of the items Americans replace most, typically more frequently than necessary. 2 out of 3 Americans own a car for less than five years before trading it in for a new vehicle. On average, drivers should be able to make their car last for at least fourteen years. Rachel Veitch, a legendary car enthusiast whose lessons in frugality has gone viral. At 90, she was proudly driving a 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente, with a sign boasting she had driven it more than 540,000 miles! Rachel purchased lifetime warranties on all her car parts when she bought the car, allowing her to keep the car running for hundreds of miles at low cost. She replaced the shocks three times. The muffler five times. Her car battery? Sixteen times! The world is captivated by Rachel’s story because she proves that there is great value in vintage items. We shouldn’t be quick to dispose of a car that we love. Instead, value the memories we make on cross-country road trips and take care of our car as it ages, just as we do our own bodies. This philosophy is embraced by the team at Caring Transitions. Our senior relocation experts prioritize honoring your memories in a downsize or a move within Washington DC, Potomac, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Rockville, Kensington, Silver Spring, Gaithersburg and other communities in Montgomery County . We know that your items aren’t just “stuff.” They are treasured belongings that hold sentimental value and memories. It can be difficult to navigate a life transition alone, especially a downsize. While these vintage items have value, it also can be rewarding to declutter your life. Our team creates a strategic, individualized plan to help you decide what to keep and what items to get rid of. Decluttering and downsizing don’t mean throwing everything away. Just like Rachel’s 1964 Mercury, your items hold real monetary value. That’s why Caring Transitions created CTBids, an online auction platform that connects you to an entire world of online shoppers who are interested in your vintage items. Our team can also organize and manage a traditional moving estate sale in person, too. Not only will these options help offset the costs of a transition, but they also help ensure your old belongings go to someone who will value them just as much as you did! Just like the items you've had for years, remember that you yourself get better with time, too. We become more of who we are as we age. We are sculpted by a lifetime of experiences and strengthened by the wisdom of our years. We might be “vintage” but we’re valuable! Chat with us today at https://lnkd.in/g8VAkUhs
