Earlier this month, our team members in Phoenix attended "The Homeless Experience" hosted by Entryway Greater Phoenix. The interactive walkthrough event immersed attendees in the real-life journey of someone experiencing situational homelessness. As part of our partnership with Entryway, our teams engage in hands-on volunteer activities including mentorship, career counseling, and packing care kits for participants in the program. We’re proud to support their mission to help individuals and families who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness work toward economic self-sufficiency. #cim #cimgroup #cimpact

Worth a watch. This policy might not be applicable everywhere, but there are certainly lessons we can draw from it. Sometimes all people need is an opportunity and a bit of trust. What’s great about this policy is that it doesn’t just help individuals get back on their feet and out of homelessness; it supports their families and feeds back into the economy - and that connects to better educational, employment, health (physical and mental) outcomes for their children and communities. It helps to contribute to a more stable home, safer communities, and lower crime rates. Of course, I’m simplifying the connections between these social/policy challenges for the sake of this post; but socioeconomic inequalities are key predictors of so many important life outcomes, and making these connections is key to improving them. All this to say that seeing initiatives like this in a global policy context that can sometimes feel hopeless offers some much needed inspiration and encouragement for future policy solutions.

What if low-income families were supported to make holistic decisions about their lives and linked to various resources, including social capital? What if there was a model that integrated housing, education, employment, family stability, physical health, mental health, etc., and families identified their goals, then self-directed plans to accomplish them? The Platform of Hope DC is one community-based organization committed to this mission and they are looking for their next executive director. They don't just want qualified applicants, they want qualified applicants who understand this: The Platform of Hope strives to be an anti-racist organization and uphold our founding goals to confront systems of inequity, inaccessibility and exclusion. If this is you, please go to https://lnkd.in/e5aUsr_p to learn more.
