Teacher Shortages in the UK: What you need to know 📚 It’s no secret that schools across the UK are facing a teacher crisis, and it’s our students who are missing out! ➡️ Key subjects are suffering: Subjects like physics, chemistry, and maths are seeing a huge shortage of teachers, only 17% of required physics teachers were recruited this year. ➡️ Some areas are hit harder: Rural schools and areas like Watford and Milton Keynes have fewer than 25 teachers available per vacancy. ➡️ Why are teachers leaving? Stress, workload, and lack of support are driving talented educators out of the classroom. At Reeson Education, we’re committed to bridging this gap, connecting passionate teachers with the schools that need them most! #TeacherShortages #EducationMatters #ReesonEducation #TeachersOfInstagram #UKSchools

White Paper Issue #3, 2024, Are we educating the future workforce to be competitive and on pace with technology? The field of research in education is vast and continues to grow as knowledge about learning behavior has increased and as pedagogy expands. We are requesting the community of front-line teachers and those sequestered in university research centers and think tanks to respond to the question asked by discussing it from at least two perspectives. Test scores differ between students in different parts of the world at least by age, economic status, and ethnicity. Do the differences tell us anything about the suggested effectiveness of education today? There are fewer science and math teachers while the need for them has increased. Will expanding teacher preparation and making teacher careers a more attractive career option address outcome? Please send us your article on this topic by August 1, 2024.

What do you do with a separatory funnel in a chemistry lab? A "work-up" or "liquid-liquid extraction"? Maybe you prefer to call it a "phase separation"? Well done to University of Leeds student Lily Barratt for her research over the summer, supported by the Laidlaw Foundation. In collaboration with Jenny Eyley, Lily's work is the latest step in our efforts to improve the accessibility of our chemistry teaching lab scripts by examining the language we use, and why it matters.
Passionate about driving societal change through the intersection of science and social issues. Dedicated to creating innovative, impactful solutions that address today’s most pressing global challenges.
I'm so excited to share my first ever research post- from my Laidlaw Research Project! It highlights the key findings and recommendations from my work on improving the accessibility of chemistry lab scripts for ESL students. I’m proud of how far the project has come and the impact it can have on creating a more inclusive learning environment. Please feel free to take a look and reach out if you have any questions or thoughts on accessibility in STEM education! #STEM #Research #Accessibility #InclusiveEducation #LaidlawResearch #HigherEducation
