Below is a list of words to beware of when used to describe a nursing home candidate. These are not necessarily BAD words but they have completely alternate definitions in Nursing Home Speak: "Sweet" This is a fine word to describe a Social Worker, Recreation Assistant or CNA. Describe an Administrator as "sweet," and you have effectively ended his/her career. In the context of Administrator, sweet = an over eager pushover. "Aggressive" In the real word, we stay far away from aggressive people and we teach our children NOT to be aggressive. In Nursing Homes, we LOVE aggression. We love aggressive administrators, marketers, social workers and directors of nursing. In this context, "aggressive," means pushing the team forward, pushing census, pushing numbers and basic all around pushiness (pushing residents NOT included). "Seasoned" - When I visualize this word, I think of an ancient gnarled oak tree that's endured the seasons of time. Yes, it has successfully weathered many storms and has proven its solidity but to me it just feels so so tired. And then there are the battle scars and subsequent burnout. "Highly skilled" and "experienced" are both sooooo much better. These are my top three personal offenders. Any others you can add to this list? #nursinghomes #recruitment

You will not prescribe medicine. These evaluations are so that the patient can continue to receive their disability benefits. Each evaluation takes roughly 40min-1hr, and that includes documenting their responses and any notes you may have. If charting takes longer, we can negotiate extra compensation. There are no clinical care requirements. You will not be their primary care provider. Location: Patients will be seen at an offsite medical facility, a doctors office, that will be close to you or within a reasonable driving distance up to 50 miles. Nursing is one of the many professions that is prone to workplace violence. There are many potential antagonists for the staff nurse in the four walls of a hospital --patient, a patient’s family member, a supervisor, a doctor, or even a coworker. It's so sad that we are not being taught self-defense in Nursing School. This omission leaves nurses vulnerable to physical and emotional harm. To combat this, we must prioritize assertiveness and self-advocacy. Speaking up for oneself is not only a right but a necessity. As a Nurse, you must recognise potential threats, and set boundaries. Funny how some companies thrive on flashy campaigns and empty promises, only to crumble when they fail to deliver. I moved on from that place, but apparently, they weren’t done with us. They approached us to rejoin, but when they saw we were building something completely different, they decided to steal our idea instead. After that, they thought offering our employees higher salaries would get them on their side. But money can’t buy loyalty—our team stayed true to us. But here’s the thing: money can’t buy dignity, and our team knows that. Just like us, they have integrity, and they stayed loyal.
