One of the educational crises is where are the teachers? How can we attract more college-bound students to go into the teaching field and pursue education as a career? I'm continually working in the educational community arena, and I'm watching this struggle in school districts for teachers and how a policy from the past prevents our college graduates from teaching certifications. Teacher's unions are continuing to be at odds with school districts. Also, this is a distraction, and our communities of parents and students are lost in the shuffle of the teacher shortage, which affects the classroom. Various solutions are being discussed nationally in education. The topics are national teacher certification, college tuition forgiveness, housing incentives for teachers to relocate, and free tuition for their master's or higher education degrees. So, let's start to have more discussions on solving this problem for a better education for K through 12. #communityneversleep

Maryland ranked 5th in the Nation for “Best High Schools”; Did you know in 2023, U.S. News and World Report ranked Maryland 5th in the entire nation for “Best High Schools”? These schools were ranked based on six factors: College Readiness, College Curriculum Breadth, Graduation Rate, Math and Reading Performance, Math and Reading Proficiency, and Underserved Student Performance. And it doesn’t stop at high schools— Many middle schools and elementary schools have ranked exceptionally high on the charts as well. In fact, two elementary schools (located in Montgomery County) were recognized as “2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools” by the U.S. Department of Education. … Marylands’ education systems are stellar. If you’re considering making a move to another state and are worrying in regards to the quality of the schools, Maryland could be a great choice for you. Do keep in mind though, that not all schools are of equal quality, even if they’re located here in Maryland. You should still do your research in determining which school district in particular you would like your child/ children (or future child/children) to attend. If you’re not sure where to start, ask your REALTOR and they will have the resources you need; they are your local expert, after all! 😉

Long-term special education teacher shortages, made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic, were the focus of a U.S. Commission on Civil Rights briefing. Panelists at the briefing offered various recommendations for easing the shortages, such as raising teacher salaries, increasing class sizes, reducing compliance tasks, offering more school choice, and investing in teacher career pipelines. The commission will issue a report on its recommendations for Congress and the president next year. #specialeducation #teachershortages #staffedup
