Thank you to Matthias Plötz from The Drawdown for highlighting the top performing Private Equity funds in Honordex 2024: "While GPs are reporting more and more, there’s no measurement or accountability flowing to LPs. This data should be just a tool but right now it’s the end goal" Another way of saying it: "Ecosystem level change will only come when the heads of the jungle, the Limited Partners, take on the lion's share of the work." - LPs are key agents of change, they hold the purse strings, and what they say matters - Discrepancies exist in the data points collected between Europe and the US. The US is more focused on the visible diversity data around gender and ethnicity. Whilst Europe focuses more on what GPs are doing to improve inclusion, diversity and HR processes within their firms and portfolio companies - It is essential to not only gather data but also implement processes to foster diversity and inclusion effectively - Asking for data is a really important step, but what we need is targets and accountability built into the ecosystem! https://lnkd.in/eZD9ngQ2

"Women are assumed to be incompetent until they prove otherwise." This stark observation highlights a pervasive issue in our society—the "authority gap." Coined by Mary Ann Sieghart, the authority gap refers to the systemic bias that women face, where their competence and authority are often questioned or undervalued compared to their male counterparts. This gap manifests in various forms, from women being interrupted more frequently in meetings to their ideas being overlooked until echoed by a man. These biases are not just individual experiences but are deeply ingrained in our social and professional structures. Closing the authority gap is not just a matter of fairness; it benefits all of us. When women are given equal opportunities to lead and their authority is recognized without bias, organizations thrive. Diverse leadership teams bring a wealth of perspectives, fostering innovation and better decision-making.
