Great conference - always nice to be in a room full of likeminded people and to feel re-assured that we’re doing great work in Hartlepool! Key takeaways 1. Lived experience and poverty truth commissions are vital, always ensure they are meaningful. 2. £19billion in unclaimed benefits - use data to target specific groups such as pension credit and school age. 3. Campaign locally for LAs to auto-enrol free school meals. 4. Interesting debate on whether LAs are the right people to create an anti-poverty strategy. 5. Capacity issue in benefit and money advice sector 6. Community organising & training local people in low level money guidance (with expected & monitored standards)
🤝 We were delighted to welcome so many of you to our conference at the Science and Industry Museum on Thursday! Here's a quick look back at the day 🎬

Loved the unbranded, randomized ice cream sandwich taste test Canadian Viewpoint had on site at the CRIC conference today. I did my duty and contributed to science. May the best sandwich win! :) #MRX #Insights #MarketResearch #MarketingResearch #CustomerInsight #ConsumerInsight #QuantitativeResearch #QualitativeResearch #CAIP #CRIC #CanadaCAIP #CanadaPAIM #CaipPaim
Day one at Canadian Research Insights Council (CRIC)! Swing by our booth to experience a tasty sensory test and meet the only team with a freezer. Our team members Jason Zweig, Lisa Wright, Ryan Magder and Shab Gharib are at CRIC with a cool setup and even cooler insights.

As you would expect from a Hot Topics session, it was indeed hot and generated a lot of interest from the audience. Fortunately, there are still almost two days to go, so there will be opportunities to continue the discussions started during the panel behind the scenes. Many thanks to Alicja Zielinska-Eisen, Christian Borris, Joanna Kisielińska-Garncarek, PhD, Joanna Kolber, Ioana Knoll-Tudor and Annet van Hooft.

Transformative technologies such as AI make difficult tasks more accessible and convenient. Since 2018, the use of AI in research has increased drastically, with annual publication rates of 3–5 times higher than pre-2017. Currently, >100,000 manuscripts using AI are published annually within science and engineering, and >20,000 of these belong to the agricultural and environmental fields. Given the magnitude of use, clear communication on how AI is used and how it helps advance scientific knowledge is essential. Clear communication is perhaps more necessary with AI than previous technologies due to its broad and flexible spectrum of uses, the “black-box” nature of deep-learning algorithms, and ongoing debates regarding AI's predictive power versus knowledge of first-principles mechanistic and process-based theories and models. In this commentary, we provide guidelines and discussion points to the scientific community to ensure transparent and effective communication of AI research in agricultural and environmental research publications.
