🌟 I remember discussing in my interview how joining this company should be an investment—not just for me, but for the company as well. In any investment, the goal is mutual growth. Just like successful investments, good things take time. Over the past two years, I’ve dedicated myself to Aaction, pouring my resources into every project and team. I’m incredibly proud to have been recognized for my efforts and to have grown into a role that challenges and inspires me, taking my business skills to the next level. The lessons I have learned are invaluable. Have you ever wondered what a morning looks like for a technician? Meet Darren, he's a multi-skilled technician in our Responsive Repairs team. Here's what he says about a typical morning at Havebury. "In this role, flexibility is key, as no two jobs are the same, so I must have tools and parts for different repair jobs. My scheduler releases the jobs for the day to me first thing in the morning so I can quickly glance over where I am and what jobs need to be completed. I also take special notice of any specific requests, such as before midday or avoiding the school run times, to ensure I fit my day around these requirements. My days vary; some days, I have a full day of inspections, where a resident has reported an issue, and I go and find out more about the job. If it’s an issue I can fix there and then I will do it. This saves the resident the inconvenience of a follow-up appointment. Before each appointment, I notify the resident that I am on my way. If they don’t answer, I will still head to their home. When I get to a resident’s home, I will look to understand the reported repair fully. I will then explain my planned solution and log the details on our system. In the case of an inspection, if I can perform the repair there and then, I often have what I need in my van, but when I don’t, I will explain this to the residents and let them know the next steps. After I have completed the repair, I will inform the resident what I have done and make sure they are happy, and I will update our system, which will close off the job. If I have used parts from the van, I will make a note to replenish the stock at the next opportunity. I am then off to the next repair or inspection. What I love about my role is its unpredictability and the immense job satisfaction it brings. I am dedicated to assisting residents in their homes, including looking at any other repairs they may have to see if I can help". REDEMPTION This post is for all Fire alarm technicians out there who might not know what to do with the guilt of having to sign a D1 or D2 despite the fire alarm system presenting hanging call points, hanging sounders, broken, buried, recessed, contaminated or otherwise condemned smoke detectors. For those of us making phone calls, to someone who knows what that FDAS should look like. You should never be ashamed to make that phone call and ask, regardless of the level of your knowledge or competence. And if anyone tries to make you feel stupid because you asked, make sure to tell them where to go. You fix things. You make things work again and you should be proud of yourself. Just like your mechanic doesn't design cars, you, the fire alarm maintenance engineer, don't design fire alarm systems, however, when signing a D1 or a D2, you are declaring that you know what is required for that system to be compliant. So, you get to a system, there is no design certificate, there are variations to the system, no zone chart, no instalation, commissioning or handover certificate and no drawings. The number of counts on which that alarm system is non compliant is overwhelming. You give up. You sign that D1 because your colleague before you signed that D1 3 months before you. You know the system is in bits, you fix what you can, but you don't want to put your colleagues in a tight spot. You do all this, while the owner of the building looks for offshore accounts and wealth management companies to look after his rental income, while you're the "competent" technician whose arse will be dragged before the courts when the smoke hits the fan. How do we fix it?

🚧👷🏼The Power of Teamwork: Operator & Dirt Technician in Sync🦺🚧 In our line of work, success isn’t just about the equipment we use; it’s about how well our team works together. The relationship between a machine operator and a dirt technician is a perfect example of teamwork in action. To get the job done right, they need to move in perfect sync—communicating, adapting, and anticipating each other’s next move. It’s this seamless flow that turns a challenging project into a job well done. The operator relies on precision and control, while the dirt technician’s keen eye and hands-on approach guide the way. When these roles come together like clockwork, that’s when we see true progress on the job site. Teamwork isn’t just a skill; it’s the force that drives everything we do at Phillips Skid Steering. We know that when our crew is in sync, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish! #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #MachineOperator #DirtTechnician #ConstructionCrew #PhillipsSkidSteering #CentralTexasProjects #BuildingTexas #HeavyEquipment #ConstructionLife #LandDevelopment #ProjectSuccess #JobsiteSynergy #TexasContractors
