Imagine you were a Fibre Optic Technician/Engineer sent to restore your company’s network link, only to meet this(in the picture). 😲😲 How do you possibly identify your cables? Better cancel any dinner or other plans you may have because you and your team will be here for a long while. 😆😆 Good network planning would help avoid this but more importantly when road infrastructure being built integrates telecoms in the designs #fiberoptics #networkengineer

I’ve recently been working on a project the utilises BT Openreach lines for a number of carriers, the technologies in use are FttC/FttP & ADSL. I know there are many competent and very good Openreach installers (I know some personally) out there, but there are some dire ones too and the use of contractors (we all know who these are but I’m not going to mention them by name), means some of their work is questionable. The standard of the installations I’ve been witnessing can be atrocious: Master filter sockets have just been dumped in the bottom of data CABs, 8pr cables leave a DP carrying 1-4 FttC/ADSL CCTs and go into the first socket, the outer insulation is stripped back and the unprotected pairs then pass to the next socket in line. I would have been severely reprimanded in my late teens/early 20s for such poor work. For a while installers were using master sockets with only RJ11 sockets on them, with the imminent demise of the PSTN service they appear to have gone back to the dual purpose socket (why if we are not using analogue PSTN in future?). Something needs to be done for supervision of installers/contractors and raising the quality of Openreach’s work. We need a 19” rackmount strip to facilitate master sockets in a CAB. Rant over. #standardofwork #Openreach

Solving complex infrastructure problems. Improving network diagnostics by determining power status using AI and automation. Passionate about building relationships and understanding people's motivations.
Quick and reliable visibility into rural areas is a tall task for NOC techs. They depend on small electrical co-ops with limited resources for critical information. For many, this lack of visibility and reliance on electrical co-ops results in dispatches to verify if a site has power, with some sites being several hours away. After 3 hours of windshield time, the dispatch arrives at the site only to find it is without power. Inefficient? Yes. Costly? Yes. Avoidable? With Gisual, yes. #noc #isp #telco #msp

Ever wondered how DSL internet gets to your house? Well, here's a part of it! In these boxes, a technician makes a physical connection between ports, 4 or 8 depending on the service, and the signal flows over wires from one location to another. It's fascinating to see the complex network of connections that make our internet possible. #internet #technology #DSL #connections
