Congratulations to Tanya Myers, Manager, Customer Care, and our September Thrive Spotlight Award recipient. When asked about something she has accomplished at the company that she is proud of, Tanya said: "I was hesitant to move back to a customer facing role after spending years behind the scenes. Numbers and analysis have always been strengths of mine, but I am not as comfortable facilitating calls and building customer relationships. I am pleased with my development since becoming manager of the Tier 2 Team. I am proud to say I believe I have gained the trust and respect of some very valuable customers." Congratulations, Tanya, on your well-deserved recognition! #Thrive #telecommunications #telecom #technology #internet #cat #voip #business #wifi #network #telecoms #wireless #communication #cabling #tech #broadband #telecommunication #ethernet #data #fiberoptic #networking #innovation #fiberoptics #datacenter #cloud #security #fiber

It will be interesting to see how Verizon's diversified approach to direct-to-device (D2D) satellite technology unfolds. By partnering with Skylo, Verizon has created an opportunity to develop business models that potentially harness the value of D2D without building a massive infrastructure. The real question is whether consumers will see D2D services as a worthwhile addition to their monthly bills or view it as just another subscription.
Verizon executive Srini Kalapala explains the recent deal with Skylo and the telco's strategy for direct-to-device #D2D via satellite. https://lnkd.in/et8mESwt

#TechNews Verizon: Network slicing operational but in trials Verizon said recently that its 5G network slicing public safety field demonstration in Phoenix, Arizona – which delivered video data for first responders while maintaining other mission critical data – is operational but still in trials. “It's operational but we haven’t uploaded customers yet,” Srini Kalapala, SVP of technology and product development at Verizon, told Fierce at Verizon’s 5G demonstration day in Basking Ridge, N.J., on March 21. “This is a trial, we’re learning more,” he said. He noted that the demo used Axon 3 video cameras and wireless routers to deliver the data over 5G. #informationtechnology #voip #encryption #telecoms #virtualization #tech #databreach #broadband #semiconductor #internetofthings #telecommunication #wireless #mobile #telecom #technology #telecommunications #business #internet #network #telecoms #networking #cabling #AI #data #wireless #telecomunicaciones #voip #structuredcabling #yidawards #communication #tech #wifi #fiberoptic #telecomunica #it #lowlatency #telco #cable #ethernet #Verveba #5G #Google #Cloud #cybersecurity #att #verizon

What is the reason for the call drop in Volte call? 🤔👇 Call drops in VoLTE (Voice over LTE) can occur due to several reasons. Some of the most common causes include: # 1. **Poor Signal Quality** - Low signal strength (RSRP) or poor signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) can lead to dropped calls. VoLTE relies on good LTE coverage for voice communication, and weak or unstable signals can disrupt the connection. # 2. **Network Congestion** - When the LTE network is heavily congested, it may fail to allocate sufficient resources for a VoLTE call, causing the call to drop. High traffic in a cell can overload the network. # 3. **Handovers Issues (Intra-LTE or LTE to 3G/2G)** - In cases where the user moves between different cells or from LTE to a non-LTE network (such as 3G or 2G), poor handover management can cause the call to drop. VoLTE calls rely on seamless handovers, and any failure in this process can interrupt the call. # 4. **Interference** - Interference from other cells or networks can degrade the VoLTE signal, leading to packet loss or delays that result in call drops. Interference sources can include neighboring LTE cells, Wi-Fi, or other communication technologies. # 5. **VoLTE Device Issues** - Device-specific issues such as software bugs, outdated firmware, or hardware limitations might cause VoLTE call drops. Sometimes a device may not properly manage VoLTE features or experience compatibility problems with the network. # 6. **QoS (Quality of Service) Issues** - VoLTE relies on a high level of Quality of Service to prioritize voice traffic over data. If QoS is not properly implemented or managed, it can lead to poor voice quality and dropped calls. This includes improper allocation of bearers or failure in maintaining voice bearers during the call. # 7. **EPC Core Network Problems** - The EPC (Evolved Packet Core) manages the connection for LTE services, including VoLTE. If there are issues in the core network (such as overload, delays, or failures in session management), calls may be dropped. # 8. *Packet Loss and High Latency** - VoLTE calls are sensitive to packet loss and high latency. If packets are lost or delayed, it can cause interruptions in the voice stream, eventually leading to call drops. This can be caused by poor backhaul performance or network configuration problems. # 9.*VoLTE Features Not Properly Configured** - If VoLTE features such as SRVCC (Single Radio Voice Call Continuity) or IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) are not properly configured, it can lead to issues when transitioning between different network types or managing calls. # 10.**Power Save Features** - Certain power-saving features in smartphones or base stations may inadvertently cause call drops if they limit LTE coverage or degrade performance during VoLTE calls. To resolve VoLTE call drops, thorough testing and monitoring of signal quality, network performance, and device capabilities are essential.

‘Reliability’ is the new hot thing in broadband networks As broadband operators pursue network upgrades, it’s not only about bringing faster speeds to customers. Reliability of the network is now pretty important too, according to Damian Poltz, SVP of wireline networks at Rogers Communications. Speed of course is “still a very important segmentation tool” for operators, he said at an SCTE TechExpo panel. But in Rogers’ perspective, the broadband market is shifting to “really start to focus” on reliability, as customers say they value an interruption-free connection the most. And it doesn’t stop there. “Reliability to the customer is actually extremely broad, much more broad than certainly some of our telco competitors would like to have us believe,” Poltz said. “It’s not just about having a passive network in the last 100 or 200 meters of the plant.” https://lnkd.in/ej5M8wQX #ftth #fttx #fibertothehome #fiberopticnetwork #fiberopticnewtorks #fiberopticcable #telecom #telecommunications #ftthinstallation #fiberoptic #fiberopticsplicing #network #broadband #datacenters #datacenter
