When I left retail life as a Gm overseeing a 5k sq store with 26 employees under me working 12 hours 6 days a week….i told myself im never ever going back to a management unless i can truly find work/life balance for once in my life. Here I am after many years as a manager at my current company, I don’t always refer myself as a manager when I call customers for my reps, I don’t need to mention my title to get my work done nor it has typical meaning to me when it come to a group effort. A position do not mean any success to me, effort and willingness does. I was always curious to see how I can make an impact on people. The way we are recognized is when you are number 1 on quota, or number 1 on revenue and so on. I decided to find what each individual is good at compared to others and cheered/challenged on other things they were lacking on…..and outcome was amazing. For all those people out there, if you think you are not good at what you do, or feel pressure because you feel that someone else is outshining you. Just remember, there’s always something that you do well better than anyone and I truly hope your direct manager see that and tell you that ! Instead of asking your employee “ why can’t you do this ? “ Try asking “ hey you are so good at doing this, i appreciate what you do everyday. Now this is another area we are trying to tackle on, can you help me ? “ I’m taking my team to the moon !

Post Part 2 of 3_ MY TEAM Recap - I When I joined as an Area Sales Manager for a leading FMCG/CPG Manufacturing company, This is what I did in the first month. Morning meetings at the distribution were like walking into a war zone ⚔ Delivery men, Sales Executives, Distribution Manager, Accountant all battling in out amongst themselves to win the day. It was chaos! I knew I had to do the following ✔ Bring structure - Map territory, customers, Targets Vs Achievement, and Asset count, Outstanding payments, for each per Sale Executive. Led the discussion based on those numbers and asked them for their plan for the day/week ✔ Set up Individual meeting GTKYs with everyone. Know their perspective and their mission with the job and future plans. ✔ Build trust and repo with the team (on-going process) ✔ Try to know their strengths and weaknesses (a time taking process, but it needs to start somewhere) This helped me ↗ Know who I am working with ↗ Know their issue(s) while performing their job successfully ↗ What are their individual goals with their careers and how I can help them grow ↗ Better manage my team Above all I made sure I worked with them on ground. Living their life on-the-job. Saw things from their lens. Showing them we are doing it together. Dear Sale Professionals would you have done the same? 🧠 RAKING THE LAWN This morning [for the 3rd time this year] I raked the lawn. I had a 1 hour slot to get it done. I grabbed my rake and gloves and got on with it. After 10+ years of raking this lawn I used my tried and trusted method of creating piles of leaves in key places, then disposing of them one by one. I had a few hazards to avoid thanks to my k9 colleague, but within the hour the job was done, equipment was away and I could get on with my day [next job]. As I raked I related the job in hand to business. This is a job that only I do, I have 'home' colleagues who are good at other things, but this one sits squarely with me. No one asked me to do it, nor do they even think about that job needing to be done - it needed doing, the environment was right, the tools were available and I have loads of experience! I have two strapping 14 year olds who could have done it. Neither have any experience so would have needed supervision, clear instruction and probably a 20 min break [to check their insta!]. I will show them one day - today, it just needed to be done. As well as raking I am experienced in many other areas - general management, operational leadership, CX, marketing, brand management, commercial development, organisational change, research and transformation. 💡 When it comes to solving complex problems experience matters as does pace and skill set. So using the right resources and tools is key to unlocking success. I stick to the 3 P's... 1. People.... get to know the right people. What motivates them both professionally and personally 2. Problem.... what challenges do they have. What impact does this have on their business, their customers and themselves 3. Product... how does our product help them overcome these problems and add value to their company (do not product vomit though!!! Focus on their problem) ...and always remember... non-attachment.... our product and service may not be right for everyone, and that's ok. The more accomplishments I’ve gained within the industry, the more I realize that success is not an accident. I was fortunate to start my career in timeshare with Mark Guy. A Senior leader who was instrumental in the expansion of Bluegreen; inside Bass pro shops. Mark always found ways to help others develop, no matter the hour. Hollie Gilbert, SVP, taught me to develop myself and lead with passion and determination. With their support, I set records in growth, leadership development, ASP, VPG and EBITA. What a great way to start my career! It did not take long to realize my true passion- building and growing programs! No one knows building a program better than Kevin Butler! Kevin allowed me to build the Brand Ambassador program with HGV. With his support and guidance, we embarked on a program that was more than marketing or sales; it was truly about enhancing the customer experience. The culture, teamwork, professionalism, and brand expectations were set high. We created a program to help align Hilton’s core values and customer experience with HGVC’s. The synergy helped us raise Hiltons SALT scores by 30% enhancing the guests stay while letting them experience HGVC firsthand. That experience will stay with me for the rest of my life. Working with these brands was an unbelievable experience. However, nothing would prepare me for what came next: an opportunity to build a Field Packages Sales Program for Diamond Resorts. All the bells, whistles, and freedom to diversify and maximize each market were fascinating. Working with Eric Assam, Mike Flaskey, & Chris Brock truly a collaboration with an all-star team of talented minds. Mike & Chris are leaders who genuinely care about all and go the extra mile to give back. Both give the feeling of working with, not for, and affirming feelings within. Eric's insight and creative thinking molds success on an organizational level that's second to none. When creating something from scratch there must be the ability to be able to see every angle and obstacle, all causes and effects of actions from the start. There is so much at stake to miss-guide efforts. My time with Eric was more than just educational, it was pivotal to my calling within the industry. Everything I've learned over the past decade has helped create arguably the industry's most efficient field package sales program. Capital Vacations is growing fast! Led by Travis Bary, Jordan Guaspari & Tom Groeninger, it's been the perfect environment to thrive in an ever-changing economy. Looking back, I am grateful for being around such great and instrumental people within the timeshare industry; it's no wonder why I've accomplished so much with my career. To be your best, surround yourself with those who will challenge you to improve, grow, and develop. Surround yourself with greatness, and it's bound to rub off. Mindset is everything, so choose your surroundings carefully, as they can help shape you. I thank you all and will follow in your footsteps!

Sales Excellence is a critical part of any successful business culture. One of our colleagues shared their experience of attending the Academy Awards for their national sales team, a night that was usually held at a fabulous resort. Winning the award for top sales achievement was something they thought about throughout the year, and it was a great motivator to work harder. However, it seems that the recognition for top sales has been reduced to gift cards and a weekend in Orlando. While no offense to Orlando, it just doesn't compare to a week in Maui. I got a promotion in less than 3 months, and my coworkers most likely hate me, and I love it. At my current 9-5 I’ve made some solid, measurable moves to grow the business, and in the process, I've taken a lot off my superiors' plates. But this for sure has caused some tension with my coworkers. It’s that classic “Who’s this new guy, and why do we have to do whatever he asks?” kinda vibe at the office. They feel like I’m just putting a pretty picture in front of the bosses and that I’m not actually capable because I asked for their help on bunch of the tasks. One instance: I built a customer tracking and CRM system that this company has needed since their existence, but no one bothered to take actual responsibility. I asked the team for a lot input and help to tailor it to the our needs. And yes they lot of the work, and I always appreciate their help, but the bosses saw it as ME taking the initiative—which led to my promotion. It’s not always about who works the hardest. It’s about who takes things off your the rich man’s plate and creates something of value. That’s what gets noticed.
