Head of Talent Acquisition | Holistic Career Coach | People & Culture | Employer Branding | People Advisor | ICF Accredited Coach
Yesterday, I read an article about #collectiveknowledge —have you heard of it? The idea is that if each person shares just one thing they’ve learned, we all benefit from the combined knowledge of the group. It’s like making a small contribution and gaining a wealth of insights in return. Let’s give it a try! 😀 💡What’s the latest thing you’ve learned about talent acquisition? For me, it’s the current trend where companies are focusing not only on “culture fit” but also on “culture add.” This means they’re hiring candidates who bring new perspectives, experiences, and ideas to the team, rather than just looking for people to blend into the existing culture. This shift is a step forward for diversity and innovation. However, I believe it’s also crucial to consider how well a candidate’s personal values align with the company’s mission and values. It’s not just about what they can contribute, but also about how much they will enjoy and thrive in the company’s environment. When employees work in places that resonate with their core values, they tend to be happier, more productive, and more engaged over the long term. Now it’s your turn! What have you recently learned or observed in the TA world? I’d love to hear your insights!👇 P.S. Enjoying the view from the "office" today ☀️👩🏾💻 #talentacquisition #trends #cultureadd #valuesalignment

𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝘁 In my experience, hiring solely for 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘁 can be a double-edged sword. It is an 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 that can limit a company's potential for growth and innovation. While it's important to maintain a consistent work environment, 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 fit often leads to a similar workforce. Culture fit tends to favour candidates who are like the current team, reinforcing existing ideas and favouritism. While this might make for an easy team dynamic, it can also create an environment where new ideas and different perspectives are overlooked. This lack of diversity can lead to 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, as teams become echo chambers with little room for creative solutions Instead, companies should shift their focus to hiring for culture add—looking for candidates who bring fresh perspectives and unique skills that complement the existing culture. This approach not only enhances the workplace with 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 but also drives innovation and growth. In a world that’s constantly changing, companies that embrace culture add rather than culture fit are better equipped to 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁 and 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲. It’s time to move beyond culture fit and build teams that truly contribute to the company’s success. Do you agree? Have you ever hired someone who didn’t seem like the typical fit for your organization? How did it turn out? A large group of Gen-Z professionals has entered the workplace, often without a clear understanding of corporate politics and its impact on work-life balance and career navigation. I define workplace politics as the influence and relationships that shape a company's culture, directly affecting team performance, talent retention, and business scalability. 🔍 According to research, 8 out of 10 employees are currently on track to be burnt out by the end of the year. This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for improved intergenerational communication in corporate America. Intergenerational relationships span various levels within organizational structures, and how they are initiated and nurtured will determine a company's ability to retain and attract talent. 📅 Over the next few weeks, I will share strategies for successfully navigating corporate spaces as a new employee, early-career talent, or someone looking to refresh their career brand. Stay tuned for valuable insights to help you thrive in your professional journey! #CareerDevelopment #CurriculumDevelopment #Millennials #GenZ #CorporateAmerica

🌱 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 🌱 At the beginning of our careers, we often make choices that seem perfect from a distance. But once inside the system, the reality can be starkly different. Recently, someone questioned my loyalty and skills, citing my shorter tenures in previous roles. It got me thinking: Why do we often focus on a candidate's loyalty rather than questioning if the company truly delivered on its promises? 💡 𝗜𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗮 𝘁𝘄𝗼-𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁? 💡 When discussing employee retention, shouldn’t we also consider the company's role? Did the organization meet the expectations they set during hiring? Did they create an environment that nurtured growth and satisfaction? Consistency in a career is vital, but so is knowing when a situation no longer aligns with your professional goals. Moving on doesn’t signify disloyalty—it means valuing your growth and seeking the right fit. Let’s shift the narrative from questioning a candidate’s commitment to exploring how we can build environments where both employees and employers thrive together. Many employees are facing a career identity crisis. The traditional roadmap is being questioned, with a large percentage of the workforce going beyond the boundaries of conventional roles. Non-linear career trajectories mean business and HR leaders need to embrace flexibility in role design. How? 1️⃣ Allow for cross-functional responsibilities or project-based work, offering employees the chance to explore different areas of the business without leaving the company. 2️⃣ Move away from one-size-fits-all career paths and towards personalized development plans that align with employee aspirations and the organization’s needs 3️⃣ What would you add? 👇 #CareerIdentity #NonLinearCareers #WorkplaceEvolution #GoFIGR
