With summer winding down and the new school year kicking off, we wish all students, teachers, and administrators a fun and safe return! We would also like to remind drivers of a couple back-to-school safety tips. 1️⃣ Watch for School Zones: Always be on the lookout for school zone signs and adhere to the reduced speed limits. Children may be crossing or waiting for buses. 2️⃣ Stop for School Buses: If a school bus has its stop sign extended, you must stop your vehicle and wait until the sign is retracted and the bus begins moving. 3️⃣ Be Mindful of Darting Kids: Kids can sometimes dart into the road unexpectedly. Stay alert, especially near schools and playgrounds. 4️⃣ Observe Crosswalks: Be prepared to stop for crossing guards and children using crosswalks. Give them plenty of space and time to cross safely. 5️⃣ Avoid Distractions: Keep your focus on the road. Avoid using your phone or engaging in other distractions while driving in school zones. 6️⃣ Watch for Bicyclists: Students on bicycles may be on their way to school. Give them space and be cautious when passing them. 7️⃣ Check Blind Spots: Make sure to check your mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes or making turns, especially in areas with high pedestrian traffic. At EnerCorp, we’re committed to ensuring the safety and security of our communities. Let’s all do our part to make this back-to-school season as safe as possible for students and drivers alike! Kremmling, CO is one of the coldest spots in the state during the winter. And the West Grand County School District, the district serving students in Kremmling, is operating electric buses to take the kids to school, even in the winter! The district also received a grant recently from the US EPA to purchase more electric school buses. Check out the story below to learn why the district loves #electric #schoolbuses!

As a new school year begins, TxDOT offers these tips for driving safely in school zones: • Be aware that traffic patterns around school zones may have changed since the last school year. • Stay alert and put your phone away. • Stop and yield to people in crosswalks. • Always obey school zone speed limits. • Drop off and pick up your children in your school’s designated areas. • Keep an eye on children at bus stops. • Watch for children who might dart across the street or between vehicles. Driving safely is a fundamental part of being a good neighbor. Help keep young learners safe and always be vigilant when driving near school zones. New Post: Dynamo-LED based cycle safety light - https://lnkd.in/eZWnjc52 - https://lnkd.in/eZWnjc52 - - Sanjay & Pratap This is the second post in the series of building more practical circuit applications that children can use in their daily life and show their friends and family. The first post was here, Cycle Safety light – C3STREAM Land Designs (auraauro.com) The cycle safety light in the previous post relied on a 9-V battery which runs out or has to be recharged. Ashwin, a friend of Ajay (who built the previous application) decided to go one better than his friend and get rid of the battery altogether. To this end, he relied on a DC motor to generate the power to light up an LED. [video width="640" height="352" mp4="https://lnkd.in/ehdaJ-XN"] The fact that a DC motor when mechanically rotated generates a voltage was known to the kids. They took advantage of this fact to use the rotation of the bicycle wheel on a vertical axis to rotate a DC motor on a horizontal axis. See the pictures to see how he accomplished this. He fixed a wheel of the required diameter to the DC motor axle. The diameter is such that it touches the bicycle wheel at a single point along both their circumferences. Thus, when the bicycle wheel rotates, it rotates the DC motor as well. Pretty ingenious isn’t it? God, these kids are creative. Take a look at the pictures and the video which is the final demonstration. Pratap and I helped the kids a bit, mostly with materials and some muscle with lifting the bike, rotating the wheel, and holding the torch lights. But this was the kids’ brainchild through and through. He and I were just the laborer and the quartermaster. I think what we have here is a local and practical implementation of what the government is trying to achieve via the Atal Tinkering Labs. At the end of the day, my heart was filled with bursting. There is so much joy in these things. Why did it take me so long to discover this sort of Joy?

What parent isn't frustrated with the amount of time kids spend on devices? To quote Entrepreneur Magazine: "One thing that makes Challenge Island a standout is what it lacks. You’ll find no screens or digital devices in a Challenge Island after-school class, camp or family night. Instead, kids working together in STEAM Teams, are encouraged to use imagination, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to come up with creative solutions to challenges using a treasure-chest full of low-tech supplies." Learn more about the value we bring to kids with this overview of Challenge Island.
