Great news for renewable energy in Romania was announced today by Minister of Energy of Romania Sebastian Burduja! He reported that the European Commission has approved a €3 billion financing scheme for 5000MW of solar and wind projects in Romania. This funding, sourced from the Modernization Fund, marks a significant step in Romania's energy transition. The projects, consisting of 3000MW of solar parks and 2000MW of wind parks, represent the largest investment in Romania's energy sector. Through contracts for difference, the sale price of electricity generated by these projects will be fixed for the next 15 years. This approval is seen as a big milestone in Romania's efforts to support green energy production, leading to lower electricity prices, cleaner air, and increased energy production. Keep going Romania! #GoGreenRomania #CISOLAR2024Bucharest

According to the latest report from UNEF, 7,489 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity was added in 2023, making Spain the second-largest solar market in Europe after Germany. ☀️ Ground-mounted solar farms led the charge with over 5.7 GW installed. Solar PV now contributes 13.6% to Spain's electricity generation - up from 10% in 2022. The sector generated an impressive €18 billion impact on Spain's GDP, creating 160,000 jobs in 2023 alone. As Spain pushes toward 76 GW of solar PV by 2030, investment in R&D and innovation remains strong. However, the future will require further energy storage solutions and supportive regulatory policies to ensure the continued growth of solar power. We are excited to see Spain reach a remarkable milestone in its renewable energy journey! 🇪🇸 #GreenHarbour #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #GreenEnergy #Spain #Sustainability #Innovation #CleanEnergy

A precise summary on the renewable energy mix.
📌 The race for zero emission electricity generation in Europe is in full swing! Renewable energy capacity additions reached a record last year. As a result, renewables accounted for 44% of electricity generation in 2023, up from 39% in 2022. Congrats! Here are some of the countries, making great progress: Share of green electricity 2022/2023 in percent ✅ Austria: 76 / 87 ✅ Germany: 43 / 55 ✅ Portugal: 49 / 61 ✅ Spain: 42 / 51 These are some of the countries lagging behind: ❌ Bulgaria: 19 / 21 ❌ France: 25 / 26 ❌ Cyprus: 17 / 21 Policy support and falling costs are among the main drivers of renewables momentum. In addition, electricity prices remain higher than in 2018 to 2020, and are expected to remain above these levels in the coming years. 🎯The EU is targeting a 72% share of renewable energy in the electricity mix by 2030. 🎯 Solar PV is well on track to meet its expansion targets. 2023 capacity additions reached almost 55 GW. 📢 Wind power needs to pick up the pace, adding only 16 GW in 2023. The market environment for wind energy is positive, but high construction costs, supply chain hurdles and permitting constraints are dampening momentum. Don't be fooled by the capacity figures – wind is ultimately more efficient for electricity generation than solar PV. #energytransition #energyinvestment #SolarForEurope #WindEurope

📈 Wind and solar power have surpassed fossil fuels in 13 EU member states: 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚, 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐮𝐦, 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤, 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲, 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚, 𝐋𝐮𝐱𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐠, 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐥, 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬, and 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐧. These countries account for 70% of the EU’s total electricity demand, while the remaining 30% is distributed among 14 other states. Five years ago, only four out of 27 countries generated more electricity from wind and solar than from fossil fuels, which then contributed to only 20% of the bloc’s electricity demand. In the first half of 2024, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, and the Netherlands achieved a significant milestone by surpassing fossil fuels in their electricity generation. During this period, five countries—Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain—accounted for three-quarters of the decrease in EU fossil fuel generation. Germany experienced the largest reduction, with coal generation falling by over 25%. Additionally, other countries reached notable renewable energy milestones recently. In May, Spain generated more than half of its electricity from wind and solar for the first time. Poland crossed the 33% mark for electricity from these sources in the same month. Meanwhile, Hungary set consecutive records for solar generation in April, May, and June. #csls #myklu #factfriday #renewable #energy #europe #sustainability
