Much of the discussion around Greater Manchester’s Places for Everyone spatial plan has been on determining the scale and location of strategic development. But what does the plan mean for land outside these strategic allocations? What policy hoops must all sites – allocated or not – still jump through? Take a look at our short blog where we highlight some of the key PfE policies that will affect your next development project, whether or not it lies within a strategic allocation. https://lnkd.in/eUAm2t-3

If you have done masters-level research on building retrofit in the UK, check out the work of The BRUM initiative. The BRUM aims to become THE database of UK Masters theses on Building Retrofit, curated for informational, resourcing, and content needs, as well as a current research network. This initiative aims to fill a knowledge gap by collecting research, spotting areas that need more attention, and reducing repeated efforts—all to support the upscaling of #retrofit work in the UK. If you’ve done relevant research, your part is simple: just provide an abstract, some tags, and a few details. You’ll keep full control as the author! Bridges are perhaps the single most critical element of the roadway network, since if they fail or collapse completely, communities can be completely cut off from one another. However, lining up funding for maintaining bridges in a state of good repair is often more overlooked, at least at the local level, than maintaining pavements. As this map shows, many bridges in our Region are in decent shape as of 2022, but several are considered poorly maintained. Learn more at the NWI 2050+ Roads Chapter here: https://ow.ly/YGZl50QryS5
