Supporting women-owned businesses can have a far-reaching positive impact on communities. That's why we're proud to support The Enterprise Center at PathStone’s She Means Business pitch competition. She Means Business is an annual 7-week training program that empowers women entrepreneurs with tools for success, culminating in a pitch contest where winners receive a total of $10,000 from Citizens to help take their business to the next level. Congratulations to this year's winners: Janna Willoughby-Lohr of Papercraft Miracles, a sustainable handmade stationery and paper art gift store. Jess Kent of Clark Mediation, which provides confidential negotiation and mediation services. Kara Oliver-Pérez of Native Pens, a children's book publishing, consulting and coaching company. Congratulations to the winners of the She Means Business pitch competition! It's great to see initiatives like these that uplift and empower women entrepreneurs. Supporting women-owned businesses not only drives economic growth but also promotes gender equality. Keep up the good work, Citizens! #WomenEmpowerment #SupportSmallBusinesses

Gender-exclusive offerings as this do nothing for gender equality. The effort is likely well-intended, but it is divisive and it is discrimination. Why should "empowering with the tools for success" not be offered to everyone?
